Best-selling vibrators aren’t always the best vibrator for every woman out there. Vibrator shopping is a pretty personal experience, and it can get frustrating if you listen to sales clerks or a whole bunch of hype. There are lots of factors that go into buying the best vibrator for you: experience, material, design, noise level…well, there’s a lot you’re going to have to consider.

Vibrator use in the real world
Women all have the same anatomy, but no two female bodies are exactly the same. The vibrator your close friends love may be a monstrosity in your eyes. Even among VN members, vibrator use and opinion varies greatly.
“I love, love, LOVE my Hitachi,” wrote cosmicmom. She calls it “HIGHLY recommended.” The Hitachi magic wand is one of the best-selling vibrators of all time, but that doesn’t mean it’s perfect for every woman in the world.
Even famous vibrators for women aren’t suitable for all women. The rabbit’s sales spiked after it was prominently featured on an episode of Sex & the City, and it remains one of the most popular vibrator models. Some have even called it the best vibrator. But it’s not a lucky charm for everybody who tries it.

“I have tried a few (like the rabbit),” wrote VN member Alicia Alicia. “I don’t get it,” she added, “these things are cold and hard and do nothing for me.”
Things never work out in the real world the way they do on TV. It’s hard for each woman to find the best vibrator for her, but don’t worry: there are so many vibrators for women out there, there’s definitely at least one for every lady.
Vibrators for women
Choose carefully when you’re shopping around for vibrators for women. Consider several features, not just one, to find the best one for you.
- Material. VN member Alicia Alicia doesn’t like vibrators that feel “cold and hard,” so she chooses rubber vibrators. Always consider material when buying vibrators. Some are made with plastic and some are made with metals, which will feel different during use.
- Size. Don’t choose something that makes you fearful. Always consider size when you’re vibrator shopping, and pick something that’s going to make you feel comfortable. The whole point of vibrators for women is relaxation, right?
- Design. Pick something that feels user-friendly to you. One VN member asked if the Hitachi comes with instructions. It’s true, the wand has a fairly confusing design. Find vibrators that you understand easily and feel drawn to.
- Function. Pay attention to how the vibrator works. If privacy concerns you, choose a model that’s made to be quiet. If bells and whistles are your thing, look for a vibrator that does some amazing (like sync up with your smartphone). Vibrators have tons of functions these days, so you can find one that’s complicated or extremely straightforward.
