Any suggestions on a great environment (probably somewhere in the Bay Area/Northern California) to spend 2 or 3 days getting reconnected? I am 64 and he is a young 77. There was once a very active romance, now I would like both of us to just enjoy, spend time, perhaps near a quiet beach and savor the memories with no pressures about romance/sex. And whatever happens, happens.

Is Mendocino too far? If so, how about Point Reyes (I stayed at a WONDERFUL B&B there, but unfortunately can’t remember the name–but lots of nice places to walk in the area). Tho, since I’ve never had a romantic get-away at all, I’m not really your expert on this! But I hope whatever you decide you have a fabulous time, whatever happens.
Thanks for the feedback. Mendocino is a definite possibility and I had forgotten about Point Reyes… I will do some research. Thanks, again.
How about Solvang? Nice area, lots of shops to look in within walking distance.
Thanks! I am not familiar with the location, but will definitely check it out. Appreciate the feedback.
Hi Story,
If your romance ‘kicks in’ and you want another week end retreat, try Capitola. It’s a ways down the coast, but what a fabulous little town! My husband and I go there about once a year and just love it! Of course, Carmel is fabulous, too! Well, there are endless ‘spots’ in your neck of the woods for fun and beauty, but these are two we enjoy! Have fun!!! We are never too old for romance!
Thank you, thank you!
Big Sur.. it’s gorgeous.. or at least one of the towns close and take a drive on the curvy and incredible cliff roads on the way. I have a very dear friendship with an old beau. Havent seen him in 27 years. May see him this summer. So keep us in touch with how this goes!!
How about Cambria, especially if its during the week. (It is pretty quiet there Mon.-Thurs.) There are some very nice walking trails right on the ocean. Some cute, romantic restaurants too. I would not recommend Solvang-way, way too touristy! However, you could travel further down the road to Los Olivos and tour the wineries.
Ah… Big Sur … Thanks for the suggestion. Everyone’s suggestions are so helpful. They are actually making the planning and research a lot of fun and bringing back beautiful memories of a time in place … I want to choose a place and activities that embraces the old memories while appreciating the wealth of our journeys over the years … and the ability and blessing to create new memories at a time further along our path … I will definitely keep in touch …
