Alternatives to fighting menopausal depression without suppressing your sex drive.

My doctor put me on Zoloft when I suffered depression at periomenopause. After 4 years, I weaned myself off the Zoloft and at the same time starting seeing a wonderful man and really enjoying sex – which I hadn’t had in years.

I recently got “hit” by a bad episode of depression and went back on zoloft and now my sex drive is zero. I want to be happy and enjoy my relationship…help, anyone!

  1. Generic Image Kelly says

I thought I had responded to you before but perhaps I didn’t click the right buttons.  I’m a Psychiatric NP and prescribe medications and do therapy.  I would recommend you try Wellbutrin or Buproprion (same drug) for your depression.  There is no effect on sex drive (in fact some think it enhances it) and it is quite effective for depression.  Wellbutrin tends to be more of an “energizing” antidepressant so you should take it in the morning.  Good luck, Kelly
