Dallas — where I tell my friends to eat and shop

I founded The Curtain Exchange in New Orleans in 1998. After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, I moved the company to Dallas, Texas. Here are my favorite places to to eat, sleep, and shop in Dallas.

Eat

  1. Rise No. 1 in Inwood Village in Dallas has great decor with a French menu. I like their souffles and petits plats.
  2. For new casual American food in University Park, Dallas, I like Cafe R&D.
  3. La Duni Latin Kitchen and Baking Studio has several Dallas locations. They have wonderful food and great desserts.
  4. Stephan Pyles in Dallas is an award-winning, “new millennium southwest” restaurant with a highly creative, innovative menu.

Sleep

In Dallas, I like the Kimpton hotel called the Hotel Palomar. It is a wonderful luxury boutique hotel where you can take a proprietary core fusion class and green spa treatment.

Shop

My favorite areas to shop in Dallas are Snider Plaza and West Village. Here are some of my favorite stores:

  1. I like Allie Coosh in Dallas for jewelry and unusual clothing.
  2. Nasher Sculpture Center store in Northpark, Dallas has a bright collection of art, books, and unique gift pieces.
  3. Smink in Inwood Village, Dallas has a wide selection of modern furniture and great accessories.
