Often, we say we want to lose weight, tone up or get in better shape – but we don’t really have a plan to do so, and therefore action never takes place. I’m not sure who said it, but there’s a quote that goes something like this: “Fail to plan, plan to fail.” All too true when it comes to weight loss.
To move from the talk mode into the action mode, you need a plan. Writing down your goals is a great first step toward better fitness – but a specific game plan is the necessary second step. In your game plan, you map out the actions you’ll take to achieve your fitness goals.
Below is a little video I made explaining how to go about setting up a game plan:
I kid you not when I say that the Boomer women who put together a specific game plan are the ones who are achieving higher levels of fitness and better weight loss progress. This stuff works.

Hi Becky,
Your videos are very informative and motivating. Thank you.
Just wanted to know if you had any tips on how I can find video exercises to overall fitness that do not require me to already be at my fitness level as they all seem to be. Just returned some via mail and bought one yesterday. No good! I spent 45 minutes basically just moving. It stated you only needed free weights so I figured no floor exercises, since no mat needed. Nope! These young women just laided right down on the harwood floor and went at it. I just stood and kept moving my arms and legs any which way.
I am 50 and have at least 60 pounds to loose and am in no way a candidate for the jumping, stretching, move changing moves that videos I have seen so far want me to do. Arghhhh! I want to work from home and have a treadmill which I use three to four times a week. I am on the walk/run programm. Slowly begining to get up to a 20 minute jog. Am working to do a 5 km run in June. It’s an easy run I have done before and I know I can do it. That is going good. I want to crosstrain with free weights on the other days. Do you have a video you can recommend or a site I can go on where I will find these kinds of exercises. I am not good at puting my own video together from the different exercises I have found on the internet.
Hope you can help.

Hi Anir,
Of course, I’d love to direct you to some spiffy sales page where you could buy a video that I’VE done just for us boomer gals. But, alas, I’ve only written an exercise book. I have no full length videos (YET!!!).
In the meantime, while I try to get my act together and create what you need, why don’t you try http://www.collagevideo.com. They have some videos for those of us “north of 40″ adults
.
Becky
Today is treadmill day so will give the site a try tomorrow.
Thanks.

I think you should try to Leslie Sansone “Walk Away The Pounds” DVD’s. I have three and just love them (when I do it!). I bore very easily and so these are a bit different so I switch between them. I started out just doing like 10 minutes… and last I did them, I could walk 2 miles! I am also 50, have at least 80 lbs. to lose… and know exactly what you are saying!!
Try these DVD’s… Leslie has some that are “start out” video’s and are just basically walking in place… Walking is THE best exercise.. or so they say!
Good luck!!

I am 62 and have 70 lbs to lose. my problem is i get frightened that i am sick and then am afraid to go out of my house. i am on antidepressants and anti anxiety meds but still feel anxious about leaving my home some days. Any advice
Hi Sandy,
I am an exercise physiologist and fitness professional. I help people improve their fitness. From what you describe here, it sounds like the best person to help you right now is an MD or a therapist that can help you deal with anxiety. Once you are able to deal with and manage your anxiety, then it will be a more opportune time to work on your fitness and weight loss goals.
My best to you,
Coach Becky
Finding the right Weight Loss Program can be really hard. You need to find one that would fit with your daily lifestyle. There are so many different options when it comes to picking a plan. I think the most easy plan is something that allows you to count your calories and log them in a journal. I found this really great website that offers some really useful weight loss tips. I hope it helps you on your weight loss journey. http://www.fitclick.com/weightlosstips
where is the video?
Hi Arlene, thanks for pointing this out. The video dropped out of Coach Becky’s post during our last site update. We’ve corrected this now. Please refresh your page and you should be able to view the video.
