1. Jumpsuits
This season’s homage to the 80′s comes to haunt us in the form of jumpsuits that only tall thin women can wear.
2. “Boyfriend” blazers
Also suspiciously regurgitated from the 80′s (sans huge shoulder pads at least) it looks silly on most women over 25, who are petite, or who have larger chests.
3. Grommets and studs on almost anything
This is a hard- edged look, insuring a “tough” look. They already look “dated” to me.
4. Balloon trousers, dhoti pants, or any ultra voluminous cropped style cuts
They look best on Boy George.
5. Ultra-high heels
Your own good sense may save you–before your aching feet and back tell you that these are meant to be worn only from the car to the restaurant.
6. Skinny jeans worn with high heels
This look has been once around the block too many. It persists amongst the “too young to know better”–but you won’t go there…right?
7. Ultra short dresses or skirts
These are strictly for the under-35 set.
8. Wide belts at your waistline
These only work really well on the very tall and thin.
9. Too much detail, over-embellished and strange designs
…When worn for the sake of it alone. Again, it’s those 80′s that designers keep hoping we forgot the last time.

Thought I looked so cool the other day with my wide belt. Guess it’s time to turn it in for a narrower one…or grow a few inches.
No ultra-short dresses, you say. Okay, I don’t wear those but I do have some pretty cool legs. What do I do to show them off?
Summertime is coming and I love “city shorts” which are basically longer shorts that are closely cut to the thighs. For all seasons, knee length skirts or dresses are extremely sexy ( emphasis on a great calf and shapely ankle) with a well chosen heel or ballet flat.
If you are thin, a long tunic top, long sweater, or anorak nylon jacket over leggings ( that reveal the shape of a beautiful leg from lower mid-thigh down) can look well with ballet flats or driving moccasins–and still look youthfully appropriate.’Hope this helps.
