A friend of mine who doesn’t need to lose a single ounce of weight told me about this free online tool she uses to track her daily food intake. (Hmm. Could be a connection.)
Of the several online food diaries I’ve seen, The Daily Plate is the most intuitive, and it appears to have been designed with an appreciation for the psychology of eating. For example, when you look up a food item in its vast (and fast!) database, you’ll see not only the food’s nutritional value, but also a button that says “I ate this.” Talk about accountability!

Since May, I’ve been using an Excel sheet for tracking everything that goes into my mouth. It works beautifully and holds me accountable. It also has a built-in spreadsheet for me to record the weight I’ve lossed, the inches I’ve lost, what kind of exercise I do and how much, weight ranges, weekly weigh ins, and some other odds and ins. I’ve lost over 30 pounds, and a total of 19 inches all over. Wuhoo! I’ve reached my first goal, now I’ve set a new one.
To me it doesn’t matter what “tool” you use, just use one! If you never paid any attention to what you eat, how could you possibly know if your intake was good or bad? Or WHEN it was really good and worked for your body, or WHEN it was really bad and caused you to gain? Write it down! Record it…because YOU matter.
that,s one i never heard. i had tried 2 ..one i quit immediately and went on to sparkspeople..it took ages to record my food. so i gave that up but still get email from them. i do curves ciruit so i decided to try their program even tho it costs money but i did pay weight watchers once and this is a lot cheaper so i went for it and like it. they send me daily the menu and i adjust it to what i have in the house and it seems to be working. as i only have 7 lbs to lose and have lost 3 of them i dont think it will be an expensive undertaking but out of curiosity will look at the daily plate.
