My Weight Watchers update: One year later

I lost over 50 pounds on “the Plan,” and have had a blast changing my life!  I tried everything else, and that’s what worked. I am now holding steady, too – for over a year now.  If I can do it, anyone can!

I lost half my excess weight going to meetings, and the second half doing it on-line (we changed leaders at our meeting, and the new one and I had very bad chemistry).  I have found all kinds of help and accountability over the Internet, though I think the meetings are great to get you into the groove, learning the plan, shedding old bad habits, etc.  I weigh in on the high-quality scale in my work gym, and I don’t need an audience to keep me honest.  I feel too good to give it all up for a bunch of junky food that’ll just make me feel and look horrible!

I ate at a restaurant the other day – and when my plate of mostly fresh, healthy vegetables was all set before me (along with my equally colorful and fresh salad), the waitress said I looked like I was eating a rainbow of food!  It really was gorgeous!

I still eat white things, too – but instead of bread, and donuts, and that kind of stuff, it’s cauliflower, fresh mushrooms, bananas, or fennel root!

Still, I am amazed at how much more colorful my plate has become – and how much I enjoy this “life of deprivation”.  I wish you much success!

We have WW at Work.  At first everybody was enthusiastic and trying to follow the program.  We have been 7 weeks into the program and i find very low turnout and people hate jogging down points etc.  Only two people have reached their 5% goal out of 15.  Our team leader is very nice and we love her but i am not seeing results or motivation from the group.  Also, we cannot go on line, i hear that Miami is the only WWatcher Chapter that does not have free access, how can that be?  I paid $2.99 for a smartphone application and find that easier to keep track of than writing it w/pen and paper.  I was the person pushing for the WW at Work and i am very disappointed that everybody else is not following it.  I also know that it takes a few times in order for people to “get it”.  The company is reimbursing only if we lose the 5% goal.  How can i keep this group motivated?
