I also turned 60 this year, my health has deteriorated, but I think I have just reflected on it more as 60 is a mile stone! It is more THE CHANGE, I did not think it would be so quick!

My kids are already getting their own aches and pains. I must admit I did not pay that much attention when my Mum went through it all.

There are many of us right now, so do not feel alone.

    Hi Beth,

I’m the same age as you are. Four months ago, in a one-in-a-million fall, I broke both legs, which required a month in a nursing home and two more months in casts before I could even begin to start waling again in ankle braces. I am better every day, but the whole experience has really aged me. I see it in my face, in my energy level, in my skin, and even in my spirits–and it happened so suddenly! I was one of those women who has been cruising along looking 15 years younger than my actual age, and now suddently I think I look older than I am! I had never given this much thought before, and now it seems to be all I think about.

I’m hoping that with more physical activity, gradually, my energy will return and I’ll feel  more vibrant, and therefore look more vibrant. You didn’t mention particulars of your health, but I do know what you mean about feeling that things fell apart very quickly. It’s frightening! I’m tired of being tired–aren’t you? I go to a physical therapist, and am going to start swimming again mid-June so I can start to feel better. Also, I’m starting a medication class tonight. I don’t know if any of this is helpful to you, but maybe just knowing you’re not the only one experiencing sudden change will be some consolation.

As for what your children think…they are limited by their youth, and have yet to experience changes in their bodies that are beyond their control. I’d take their criticisms lightly, knolwing that they will get their turn at bat, and that maybe then they will be a little more sympathetic to their mother.

Let me know you you’re doing and if anything is helping you feel better.

    Best wishes to you.

      Hi SeaWriter

Hope your therapy is all done and you are healed?  has the meditation helped?

Thanks SeaWriter. I love the ocean so your screen name gave me a big smile. I’m doing some better, partly because of the encouragement I’m getting from “peeps” like (as the youngin’s say).

I have pulmanary embolysisms and found out at the same time I have vocal cord dysfunction and must be on oxygen. I was working right up to the day they put me in the hospital. The company I was with for 10 years laid me off the next month. I know they’re some leagal grounds for age and health but I’m not of that mind…not up to the years to fight a huge pharma co. I’m currenly on 14 meds and homehealth with O/t and P/t plus they have to take a blood sample every week. Prayers are getting me through but I believe got put people in your life to give you bits and pieces of his love. Those on Vibrant Nation have given me that.

Many thanks and take care. One leg is bad enough! Can’t imagine 2….ughhh.

      Talk to you soon.

      Beth
