O.M.G., yes I had all those [sleep] issues too… I must’ve been a nightmare (and daymare) to deal with.
I’m one of those people who always looks for natural nutritional solutions to my health issues first. A friend of mine back in Denmark told me about Doctor’s Natural and recommended a supplement they make called Femivital.
It’s an all natural menopause supplement with black cohosh, red clover and hops. All I can say is–it not only helped me sleep better but took away the hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings… If anyone else out there prefers natural herbal organic solutions, try it out.
I also heard adding more soy to your diet helps? Is that true?

Interesting. I’ll have to look for this. Where do you find it?
The only issue I had was sleeplessness. What helped was coffee cruda. I still use it once in a while. Estrovan that I got OTC was also good.
Many people (including doctors) believe that black cohosh (and other herbals) are safe because they are not estrogen. Research suggests that cohosh may actually have some estrogenic/hormonal properties, and may act just like synthetic estrogen in the body over the long-haul. So some women may still want to avoid cohosh (black or blue) for the same reasons.
There is another supplement, pycnogenol, that research has shown to be helpful with hot flashes, sleep, and memory issues in menopause. It’s worked wonders for me. I did some research on it to see if it was safe for women who must avoid ALL female hormones, even cohosh, because of estrogen-reactive breast cancer. And I found that it was considered to NOT reactive with hormones at all. Just FYI for those who want to avoid any hormonally-reactive substances. Works great for me.
I find that the People’s Pharmacy–website, radio show, and newspaper column–is a good source on these types of questions.
