oh no.  this makes me sad.  my family has had genetic testing and 80%, so far, have been diagnosed positive, men included, with the BRCA2 mutation cell that is following each generation agressively.  It is the precursor for breast, ovarian, and prostrate cancer.  I decided to do the venue of total hysterectomy, just 4 days ago, and have a bi-lateral masectomy & reconstructive surgery scheduled in January 2010 @ Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.  I am nervous.  So far, 4 sisters, 2 that are current with breast cancer, father, uncle, 2 nieces, 1 daugher and 1 son that have been tested carry this gene.  Only 2 others that tested do not carry the gene.  That is huge odds against us. I am hoping that this next surgery i have to do to keep breast cancer away, will be a successful story.  My family has decided to go wtih docs in MSP., @ the Virgina Piper breast clinic because this is all they do is breast surgery.  Who were your doctors, and were you happy with them?

In June of 04   I too had stage 1 dsis  and I had my mastecomies. and reconstruction. I had a trams flap. They used my stomach muscles. I have 2 layers of  mess in place of the muscles. I know that only 5 months is still just a short period of time. It took awhile for me to heal completely  . I too cried. I think it is a loss that we have to face. It is hard looking at your body and what is transforming. I know that you will have days of crying and that is normal. I want you to know that I recently had tattoos done over the mastectomy scars and the stomach scar too. I had it done in Tn there is an article in the Sentinel which was a page and a half. You can look it up on the internet. I want you to know that it will get better. If you want to email me to help with any other questions I will be happy to try to answer them. Take care and God Bless
