Good luck with that one and if you find someone please post it every where you can.  I have seen the world’s best and to no avail.  I was seeing a doctor in Sacramento, CA and then when I moved back to Houston, on the Today Show I think it was I saw this world reknown derm and I went to see him, that did not help.  I lost my heatlth insurance so therefore the stuff started spreading over 80 percent of my body.  I went to the county hospital and saw a derm there.  The doctors at this hospital are supposed to be the very best.  The first word came out of this doctor’s mouth was is this a fungus.  I dont’ know.  I itch and I itch.  It is a curse is what I say.  Some cruel fool said to me you scratch like a dog with fleas.  That really hurt my feelings.  I strted paying 17 dollars for a small container of shea butter.  Thought that helped, for some I have heard that it did.  For me not really.  Out of trying to save money I was in a store and they had marked this lotion down 50 percent. It was a lotion by Vaseline with a hydrating formula.  It worked.  I purchased a few bottles after that and I’ll be darn I can not find it anymore.  Don’t know if they quit making it or changed the container. I have read the labels and I don’t see it.  I read about using Apple Cider Vinegar as a cleanser for your skin.  I started using that at least once week.  I wash my body with it and it seems as though it is helping.   don’t itch as much and the spots are clearing.  Best wishes to you.

I got dyshidrotic eczema two years ago on hands and feet which spreads up arms and legs.  After seeing numerous doctors and getting either no treatment or another prescription, here’s the program I’ve come up with.  The lotion recipe is from a toolpusher who works in hot or cold dry weather all the time:  6 parts Vaseline Intensive Care (I use Vaseline Total Moisture Conditioning) to 1 part baby oil gel.  Shake it up.

Preventive and mild itching:  After every shower before drying off, use liberal amounts of toolpusher lotion on affected areas.  Use at least twice a day (morning & night) whether bathing or not.

If itching starts affecting sleep or raises bumps:  When in the shower, use a washcloth to scrub affected areas with warm water.  This forces water into tissues.  Before drying off, use OTC hydrocortisone 1% cream just like lotion, rubbing in well.  Follow with toolpusher lotion.  For night dryness, keep a wet washcloth on a folded handtowel on the nightstand.  If woken up by itching, scrub area then follow with hydrocortisone and lotion without getting out of bed.  (I can just about do this in my sleep and don’t get as sleep deprived as I did when getting up to relieve itching.)

A doctor prescribed Triamcinolone Acetonide cream.  It’s the next step up, expensive but effective.  As a last resort to get really bad episodes under control, prescription oral Prednisone.  It’s cheap but has side effects.  Read up on it before you decide whether to use it.  I used 5 mg for two days to knock down the redness and itching plus prescription cream and toolpusher lotion.

Eczema (fancy word for dry skin) is usually a symptom of some other problem.  With me it is probably thyroid disease.  I have a goiter but haven’t found a doctor who will address it.  I’ve requested a work transfer to a larger town with more than three doctors.  The weather will be more moderate than the -20 winters and 115 degree summers with less than 8 inches of annual rainfall where I’ve lived the last 25 years.

Keep on keeping on & God bless—

I’ve been trying some other cream that a co-worker gave me at the cost of 20.00 for a small tube.  This stuff is getting worse.  I am so embarassed.  I have ao many different lotions, gels, oils, etc. in my cabinets I just don’t know anymore.  The itch is though there is some little bug under my skin biting away at it and unless I scratch it, it will not stop.  How can anyone’s skin be this dry when I am applying stuff to it all the time.  Amazing.  I am going to try the toolpusher idea until I can get to a derm in January.  I am going to try a new derm this time to see.  I have insurance so gettingi them to do a biospy should not be a problem.  This itching is driving me to tears.

Thank-you for responding to me. I did find a doctor 15 years ago however, he is no longer practicing. His name is mark lovendale he is a reasearch scientist. He wrote quality longevity. He healed my eczema which covered both of my arms from my elbows to the tips of my fingers. It was so bad that i would have to rush to the emergency room for relief. I would have blisters that oozed and itched so bad i thought i was going to go out of my mind. This time i’m breaking out on my hands only alot milder that 15 years ago, however, my nails are suffering with horizonal ridges that are the worse case i’ve ever had. I don’t cry about it as much as i did the first time i had it. Dr. Lovendale said it was a food allergy caused by a compromised immune system. Everything i ate made me react, he had me go on a raw diet of certain vegtables for 3 months and he prescribed pharmacutical vitamines and minerals. My md gives me cortisone which gives me temporary relief, no cure. I use a cream called rex eme which sooths and moisturizes. I also use aveeno soap. I’m receiving accupunture treatments drinking alkaline water and eating more vegtables and fruit in my diet, i’m not experiencing a change yet however, i’m starting to lose some of the 30 lbs that i so need to take off, so that’s a good thing. I’m so sorry you had to encounter a fool with no compassion who made a thoughtless comment that you scratch like a dog with fleas. He had no idea what it feels like. I would not wish this on anyone. I have a little fungus on my toe nails and i was told to soak them in white distilled vinegar. Best wishes back at you.

My advise is to go to a Naturopath!  To make a very long story short….I am over 65 and have had eczema my whole life.  I finally gave up on Dermatologists!  I am pretty much cleared up at this point thanks to working with a Naturopath.

Hi Deanie, I am interested in knowing where do you find A Naturopath and what is it and what does it do?

A naturopath uses a system of alternative medicine based on the theory that diseases can be successfully treated or prevented without the use of drugs, bytechniques such as control of diet, exercise, and massage.  They usually are listed in the yellow pages under “physicians, naturopathic”.  Or go to your local health food store and ask them if they know of any.

Yes I agree there is no cure , but in my profession I have helped hundreds of people who have had raw , bleeding cracked skin get better. Healing from inside is the first step and also removing the chemicals from the products that you are using. Laundry soaps especially soaps, body washes will have an effect on your skin.

This was taken from a toxin checklist report Laundry Detergent. Can burn the skin. Dust can cause headaches dissiness, labored breathing. Fabric Softners, Possile Skin Irritant, Vapors can aggravate asthma symtoms. and the list goes on.

Most people that have tried this cream which is clinically proven moisture therapy to effectively end dry skin have  seen remarkable results. Myself I use it every day, and would not be without it. I uesd to have very dry skin and my fingertips would split open all the time. Although I don’t have exzema . It has helped me greatly.

      Wendy
