I’m scared to death. I don’t know where to even begin. I need a mammogram, but don’t know where to get one without having a Dr. I live in Seattle, and am seeking out clinics/hospitals that might provide free or low cost mammograms.
I’ve had this lump all of my life, but this week it has gotten thicker and there is an indentation next to it that I’ve never seen before. Has anybody ever gone through anything like this before. In the past, all of my Dr’s. have said that this is a benign fluid filled lump. Does anybody know if these types of lumps can change into cancerous lumps?
Thanks for any help or advice, my sisters!

I am not a clinician and my comments should NOT be construed to be medical advice. If you have had this looked at before and it was consistently diagnosed as a benign fluid filled lump, then that’s a good thing. The chances of change are small.
Nonethless if you are of a certain age you should have regular mammograms. Call your local hospitals particularly the not for profit, faith based ones. Ask for their Radiology Dept. Ask who ever answers about the existence of community outreach programs for low cost/free mammos. Ask them if they know of any community partners that might do this. They most certainly DO exist……it is just a matter of FINDING them.
Start calling & start asking!
Here’s one more place to call: YOur local Susan Komen Foundation office. THey will likely be able to point you in a good direction:
Office: (206) 633-0303
Well that reply to this outcry was very nice of you. I commend your good information to passionflower. Hmmmmm maybe you are your brothers keeper after all. God works in mysterious ways.
Wow. Judge much? Jump to conclusions? Whatever dear.

Go ahead and pray for divine intervention……..I myself actually DID something helpful and offered REAL information. I did research and shared what I found.
Think about it in the future before you pass judgment on others.
Hi, I didn’t think her comment was judgemental. More like a way of flattering or congratulating you. I find people from various island communities do this. They mean no harm.
But then…I could be missing something….Anyway, your response was great.
The advice given by Dallas Lady is very sound please follow it. It is a great starting point. In the meantime I will keep you in my prayers.
I do not have insurance either. I went to out local County Health Dept. I saw one of their doctors who
did a hands on exam and then sent me to a hospital for a diagostic mammogram. In case you don’ know,
a diagnostic mammogram is when the radiologist gives you the results that day. No waiting and worrying.
Hope this info helps.
Ms. call the United Way they can give you resources to contact. Best wishes to you.
