Anyone out there know how to make it so that the good stuff stays in it? I have given up coffee and was drinking green tea from tea bags I would just pour boiling water over them in my cup. Seems this is not the right way to have the nutrients that green tea contains. As I hate to spend more time than needed in the kitchen, does anyone know of a way to prepare the leaves, yep it has to be leaves I guess, that is quick and where you don’t need all the fancy stuff the site I went on suggested?
This trying to be healthier thing is starting to build into hard work. I am not good at hard work, especially when it involves having to cook or anything simular to it. I guess it will be worth it in the end. Sigh!
Thanks for any help.

bake it in brownies???
I’ve heard of other things added to brownies but green tea? That’s a new one LOL. Nice seeing you around Namaste ;^)
I am too lazy to do any more than post snark today…..Nice to see you too, moongoddess!
Hi anir,
I don’t know about green tea. Is it the boiling that damages some of the nutrients? If so, how easy would it be to prepare it like sun tea? Could you put it out in a clear bottle or glass even on a window and let the tea leech out? Does it have to be steeped? Hum, just trying to help. You are very brave to stop drinking coffee. You have to be feeling the benefits.
Hugs.

It does need to be steeped mongoddess. Just not sure about even this process. I am an instant coffee, add a teaspoon to a mug, pour hot boiling water on it, add 2 ice cubes ( yeah, I know, sounds weird but I drank it black and cold) then enjoy.
According to wiki you have to use green tea leaves, heat up the inside of the cup first with hot water, put the leaves in some sort of ‘pot’ , must be one of those tea pots, sounds right, and the water must be poured slowly and at just the right temperature or the good stuff will not come through. Then there is the chance that the caffeine will be too high or too low depending on the amount of time the tea sits there????? Just too complicated for me.
I think I just might give up and start using multivitamins with all the not so natural additives they involve.
AAAAARRRRRGGGGG!

LOL!! multivitamins ROCK!!!
smoke it in a pipe?
Namaste,
You are just too funny! But hey, it just might work. Ah, shoot! I finally stoped smoking this year. I think. O.K. so I do have a smoke once in a while. Will not say what king
. Don’t ask and I will not lie.
Thanks for the good one.

pssst…I have stopped smoking many times this year as well.
Mighty Leaf makes several fabulous Green Tea varieties in both bags and loose leaf. My favorite is the Green Tea Tropical blend. I just let it steep for like about 10 minutes or longer and add lemon. It is awesome!!! I like the idea of putting it in brownies. I never heard of that, but I try not to eat sugar and carbs. “Try” was the key word! You can buy Mighty Leaf Tea on line. Also both hot Tea & Coffee should be never be made with water that exceeds a temp. of 202 degrees F:-)
I drink green tea every day. I buy loose green tea from Japan at my local oriental market. I put about 1 heaping teaspoon in a strainer in the top of my tea pot. I bring the water to a boil, then let it cool about 1 minute then pour over the tea and steep for 3 minutes. Take the strainer with the tea out of the pot and save it to make a second pot later in the day. The second pot has less caffeine. Loose tea (the leaves) is usually much better than bagged tea. I like oolong too. The Strand Tea Co. in Oregon used to put out a great tea catalog. (Don’t know if they still do).
Thank you Deanie for your response. It sounds like you know something about this green tea steeping thing. Unlike ‘someone’ on this site, don’t need to name names here, but she knows who she is, who suggested I put it in brownies or smoke it!!!
I will try your suggestion and will be awaiting the healthy benifits.
Thanks again.

ahem!!!!!!
Did you think I was talking about you Namaste?!?
You’re just all over this site aren’t you???!!!!
No matter how you make it, it is great stuff. I highly recommend it. I am not one to do anything harder, tea bags are ok w/me. My trainer has been telling us to drink hot green tea daily. I am not a tea drinker but while passing the tea isle in the supermarket, stopped and looked at all the varieties. So i decided to take her up on it and bought green tea w/acai and blueberries. I would do the tea and put a bit of sweet creamer, irish cream, this time. It is delicious, but of course i am a sugar addict so anything that tastes sweet is good to me. I did this for about a week and was feeling that i was releasing a lot of water and getting rid of a lot of toxins. I am usually a constipated person. If i went to the bathroom once a day i would feel great, but drinking the green tea i was going 2 and 3 times. I was releasing fat. So yes, please try the green tea. Try it for at least 2 weeks before you decide against it. At first i did not know why such difference in my digestive system and then figured it out. GREAT STUFF. I do not drink it at night because it does have caffeine. But now i drink it at 10 a.m. and after lunch.
Spent several years in Japan and went to several ‘tea ceremonies’ which lasted what seemed like hours. Not for me or the average householder. It is a beautiful ceremony which looks like a slow motion dream sequence acted out for those of us who are not steeped (pun?) in tradition. I say, make it the way you like it and know, know, know that some of the (if not all) nutrients will filter into your hot water, turn green and satisfy your energy needs.
I am not a hard working enthusiast either — simple and plain and plain and simple am I. Sometimes I break down and cook – an omelet, a hamburger or leg of lamb. Of course I live alone — otherwise this could not be happening!!
