Computer Eyed Eyewear

I was sent a pair of Computer Eyed Eyewear to test and review.

I had printed the reading chart, found on their website, to the exact proportions and tested my vision, without my glasses as instructed, in order to determine the strength I would need.

They arrived, a lovely, stylish pair of red readers with tasteful bling on the sides tucked inside a flashy, colour-co-ordinated case.

There are half moon bi-focals at the lower edge of the lenses, these are the readers.

I put them on and sat at my computer and could see nothing…well, I could see the box I was supposed to be writing this review in but not the words I was typing.  On leaning closer, 12 inches from my screen, the text came into focus.

Now to test the half moon bi-focals.  I had to get really close, 8 inches, to be able to read what was written in my book alongside me on my desk.  When I sat up in the position I usually worked at the text came into view through the top part of the lenses.

I removed the Computer Eyed Eyewear and found I could see my screen and the book on my desk clearly without the eyewear.

The instructions stated that I read the test chart from a distance of 14 inches, I noticed that the distance from my eyes to the book on my desk was 24 inches…perhaps I am taller than the norm, or my chair is adjusted higher?

Unfortunately this product was of no benefit to me.  Since I need glasses anyway my corrective prescription is written  for computer work, reading and distance.

I feel I was at a disadvantage ordering this product online.  Had I been able to try them on in person and test them at a computer I probably would have had a more satisfactory experience.

    Hello Vivienne,

Sounds to me like you didn’t get the correct strength on the Computer Eyed computer glasses. Those online eye charts, can be inaccurate, and on our new website we aren’t even going to post one.
Since you wear glasses you may know your reading prescription, if you do please let me know and we will send you another pair with correct magnification, I am sure you will have a better viewing experience. I know I as I wear them and need a very strong magnification.

I have to say, I have had the complete opposite experience. I was very skeptical and expected all flash and no real result, but I was wrong.

These glasses are made so your eyes can better adjust from going from copy on your desk to the computer screen. I actually measured the eye chart from my eyes to ensure I received the proper magnification. When they arrived, I tried them out at work, and although I don’t suffer from eyestrain, I was pleasantly surprised to see that both were in perfect focus, without me putting glasses on and off, and without having to continually lean in and then back to see what I am working on.

I’m quite happy with these glasses. In fact, a friend of mine said she had some made for about $400, and her dog recently chewed them to pieces, and she was very sad and upset about that. I told her for less than $40 she could get a new pair from computereyed and they would do the same job.

I just wish the website explained in better detail how these glasses work, and more about the problems they fix. I think more people would be interested in them then.

Thanks for the chance to try them out and the free pair of glasses! I will enjoy them for a long time. :)

      Hello Paula,

This is Joan. I do the marketing for Computer Eyed and so happy to hear our computer readers are helping you. Just as you mentioned, your friend spent $400 for a pair of computer readers. Our company’s mission was to provide a ready made option, so that people who were experiencing digital screen viewing problems would have an affordable solution.
You said you that our website didn’t explain well how the glasses work. We are in the process of redesigning. Do you mind giving me your thoughts on how to better explain what our computer glasses do?

      Thanks so much!
