Would like to know how other ladies diagnosed with cervical cancer felt when being told? By what sort of Dr? How old were you? Was it caught in time? anything else you might like to tell me?

HI ,MY NAME IS ERLENE MARTIN, I AM 58 YEARS OLD,I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CERVICAL CANCER, IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR, MY MD IN A WELL WOMAN CHECKUP FOUND ABNORMAL CELLS AND DID FURTHER EXAMINE FOUND A TUMOR IN MY CERVIC’S, SHE SENT ME TO A GYNOCOLOGICAL ONCOLOGIST, THE DOCTOR AND HER TEAM DECIDED TO DO CHEMO AND RADIATION FIRST BEFORE SURGERY, THE REASON FOR THAT WAS THEY DIDN’T KNOW HOW LONG THE CANCER HAD BEEN THERE, SO I WENT THROUGH RADIATION 5 DAYS A WEEK FOR EIGHT WEEKS, AND ONCE A WEEK CHEMO, BY THE GRACE OF GOD, THE ONLY SIDE AFFECTS WERE I WAS SO TIRED I COULDN’T HARDLY GET OUT OF BED,BUT I HAD TO. TWO WEEKS AFTER TREATMENT, I HAD A COMPLETE HYSTERECTOMY BY A PRECEDURE CALLED,DA VINCI SURGERY, MY DOCTOR SAID THEY WERE PRETTY SURE THEY GOT ALL THE CANCER, I RECOVERED QUICKLY FROM THIS, MY BIGGEST PROBLEM WAS FATIGUE. I AM STILL WORKING ON GETTING MY STRENGTH BACK. YOU WANTED TO KNOW HOW I FELT WHEN I FOUND OUT, IT WAS LIKE BEING HIT BY A CAR, YOU SEE WE’VE LOST MOST OF OUR FAMILY DUE TO CANCER OF ONE KIND OR ANOTHER, I WAS SCARED, TO US CANCER MEANT A DEATH SENTENCE,I STARTED PRAYING ALONG WITH MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS,I AM AS FAR AS I KNOW CANCER FREE NOW.
