Arthritis – Surprising Remedy

When I got diagnosed with arthritis I was very unhappy.  My knees swelled up to horrible proportions and ached like mad.  The doctor put me on celebrex, which I only took until the swelling went down.

What can you do?  I have to make money so I went to work.  Cleaning homes, hauling heavy boxes to the antiques market on sundays, picking up the grandkids, cleaning house – I had to do it.

I was in for a big surprise.  The more I moved around the less paid I had.  My still joints loosened up, pain diminished and stiffness fled.

If you have arthritis try to move around as much as possible.  It increases blood flow in and out of your joints, relieves stiffness and increases energy.  Go swimming, walking, anything to get you moving – even a morning cuddle!

If you stop moving you’ll be riding a scooter for the handicapped in no time at all.  Take it at your pace but for goodness sake – get off your couch.  Do you a world of good.

Yoga helps too, I have arthritis in my hips and knees and you’re right, staying immobile is crippling…get me the zimmer please!  Also when I find myself reaching for the ibuprofen, which works wonders in appropriate doses, I go for a good long walk instead and find my pain is eased for a while.
