What worked for my insomnia (when my RX didn’t) Most Liked

From LYNNMG

I’m 54 and perimenopausal and went through a four-month period of sleeplessness last year.

Doctors prescribed all sorts of horrible anti-depressants (like Klonopin!), Ambien, Valium… nothing worked.

I also tried taking Benedryl at night…

What finally worked for me was Valerian Mint tea, recommended by a client (I’m a web designer). The brand name is Alvita and it’s available at Whole Foods. I simply drink a cup before bedtime and I’m sleepy within 15 minutes. I now sleep at least 5 – 6 hours per night, sometimes longer!

It’s been a godsend.

At 50, I’ve had bouts of insomnia for years, and have gone the Benadryl and chamomile tea routes. Very rarely have they worked. Thanks for the tip on the Valerian Mint. There’s a Whole Foods not far from home, so I’ll give it a go.

GNC’s Melatonin 1 was recommended to me by a holistic therapist.  ONLY THE CHERRY MELTS.  You put 3 under your tongue.  Works most of the time for me.

I used to use valerian root in a tincture mixed with water. It tasted terrible but worked well to calm a restless sleeper. There are pills available if you don’t like the tea.
