Hi Sandy Anne, sorry to hear about your parents passing. They must have been quite young. Newmarket ,is a nice place, dropped by once.Something to do with figure skating that my oldest son was into back in the late 1990’s. I am divorced as well, have the “whole nest to myself” as “Judge Judy” put it once. One son in North Vancouver , now at Vancouver Community College and the other one in Toronto working( ie. eeking out a living) in Stereographics Computers and films.I work in Community Care assessments now, driving to Brockville, Perth etc.

HI SANDY ANNE:
I LIVE IN MY HOME TOWN OF SPRINGHILL, N.S. AFTER HIGH SCHOOL I WENT TO ONTARIO IN 1965. LIVED IN NEWMARKET , WHICH IS MY SON’S HOME TOWN. I STILL KEEP IN CONTACT WITH MY CLOSE FRIENDS THERE, ONE OF WHOM IS STILL IN NEWMARKET, THE OTHER TWO LADIES ARE IN RICHMOND HILL, AND ORILLIA. I WAS UP TO VISIT THEM AFTER NEARLY TWENTY PLUS YEARS AND SO GOOD TO SEE THEM. I COULDN’T GET OVER HOW BIG NEWMARKET HAS GROWN, BUT IT WAS SO NICE TO BE THERE AS I HAD SPENT ALL OF 18 YEARS LIVING THERE. I WORKED AT THE YORK REGIONAL POLICE DEPT IN COMMUNICATIONS , I SAW THAT THEIR HEADQUARTERS HAD MOVED BUT THE OLD BUILDING IS STILL ON PROSPECT STREET.

Yes! Thank you! I’m in the middle of a very corrupt legal case with my Mother’s nursing home. She is in hospice & they won’t let me see her even though the court said I should! They are making me go broke & homeless. G-d I wish I could reach the Queen & say don’t let the U.S. which is not the U.S. I grew up in due this to two daughters of Canada! I wonder how Canada would treat me if I deceided to come back home after they make me go broke & homeless? XO

Just moved from Ontario to New Brunswick. Culture shock!
Greetings fellow Canadians! lol@ that Twinkling – about being bookends. And I hear you about the culture shock even though it’s been many years since I moved to NS from Ontario. One of my first memories was walking home from school with a newly made friend (we were in Grade 5). Her dad worked on the ferry between North Sydney and Port Aux Basques Nfld – her mom…well she had babies…15 in all! (not a word of a lie). And when she took me to her house there were these weird looking white things hanging on the clothesline. Being the new kid and a bit shy around my new friend I didn’t ask what it was right away…but the next time I saw them I just couldn’t help but ask. Turns out – it was cod fish….drying. *falls over laughing* So how’s that for culture shock? LOL! I’d never even seen the ocean in my life – nor a real cod fish. Love it!
You are making me homesick!!!

Looks like this site has some valualbe infor regarding aging…..I’m struggling……a young mind, in an aging body
Hello from Victoria……. I hope you love the Island as much as I do. I’ve been here since 1963 and wouldn’t move for the world. However being stranded on an island gets to me once in awhile. Glad I didn’t have any plans for the Thanksgiving weekend! What a mess! I know what you mean about a young mind and aging body! What happened to my slim self and all my energy? :o)

What is Blairmore like? I wish I could get something in print on it? Do you know where I can write to find out what time I was born? Where in Blairmore? I still have relatives in Stettler & Moose Jaw. Haven’t communicated with them though in a while. My Dad was the one who would write letters & get the phone calls. I also have family in British Columbia. I would like to learn about that area to. Good to hear from you! XO
sher said on December 1, 2009
Blairmore…. it has not grown much over the years.the mines do not operate so close to town now so it is much cleaner. it has become a cottage community for Calgarians to escape to on the weekends. it is still very natural, clean rivers etc. the newspaper is the Pass Promoter. They are probably your best bet for history. Or my mother ..she has lived there for 60 years..I have a huge family living there. 10 brothers and sisters and countless nieces and nephews. My mother was probably having a baby or at least had a baby when you were born. She would know how to get the information. I live in Penticton, British columbia now for about 8 years. Did your father live/work in Blairmore? Mine worked for the mines and was active in the unions.. preseident and such..he knew all the guys. if you went to school there you would have been with a member of my family .. we had one in every grade.lol good luck with your search.. keep me poted please..
My Dad worked somewhere where there was Lyme! He also worked @ Niagra Falls. He was in the Canadian Forces watching the German Prisoners of war in NewFoundland where he met & married my Mother! My Grandmother remarried into the Kromn family. I’ve heard a lot of discussion about Red Willow. In a huge corrupt legal battle with my Mother’s nursing home. They are trying to make me go broke & homeless! Not the USA my parents came to! I remember them telling my brothers & I when I was 16 & we became Naturalized Citizens that if we couldn’t make it here in the “Great USA” before we go on welfare to go “HOME!” I wish I could click these dusty old “Rubby Slipper!” & be where you are today! I also have relatives in British Columbia! Don’t know what will happen. On my knees praying for the best! XO

I do hope others will read it as well and maybe someone out there may be able to help, with your mother’s situation: maybe your bio should have been a post instead. I wish I was in a position to help you. My, my, dear lady, you have been through a lot with illiness in your family and your own heart ache.
I’m praying that someone who has the power to help finds it! I guess you can say I’m looking for a miracle! Thank G-d I believe in miracles! I wish someone would tell the Quenn that someone is beating up on two of her Daughters & she would come over here & wave her magic wand & take us back home! 😉 XO

We have moved so many times during our life in Canada but have never lived ‘downtown anywhere!” I think it is going to be a great and new adventure as my husband is finally coming to the down stretch and will be retired in about a year. Good Morning All
I am in the process of moving to Horsehoe area, from Barrie. We are downsizing to a small little condo, in the Valley area…A big adjustment from a 3 bedroom house to a 630sq’ condo, but very much looking forward to it all!!
Beebee said on October 30, 2009
Oh Pamela, you will love it here. I think I know the area that you are talking about. Is it just across the road from the Inn at Horseshoe? The colours in the fall are spectacular and the winters can be a challenge but if you like to ski you will have access to the resort, as well as lots of cross country trails. There is a grocery store at the corner of Hwy 93 and Horseshoe Valley road and it’s only 20 minutes to either Barrie or Orillia. If you are interested in Pilates there is an amazing instructor who has classes just beside the OPP station on Line 4. Her classes are fun and it’s a great way to meet other ladies in the area.

Hi rainvow 19. I am Care from Edmonton. I live in an high-rise apartment, overlooking the North Saskatchewan River, at the heart of the city. I am laid off as of tomorrow, thus, I am at a crossroads in my life. I will begin a job search during this winter, such that I could move anywhere in Canada in the near future. Finding this site, and your post with so many responses, since I left work this afternoon, is exciting.
So sorry about your lay off-what type of work are you looking for?
care said on October 24, 2009
Thanks for your condolences, Daewood. Being laid off in a recession in this one-government province, especially, at my age, is a disaster. There are no services, the expectation that the unemployed should move back to their home province. When the oil boom returns, they send for the young ones, globally, So, I’ll keep the faith, and I will keep packing. and apply out of province as the need arises.

Agnes – I was born in Ottawa – spent my childhood in Bell’s Corners – was there in May for an Il Divo concert – stayed in Kanata – but things sure do look different than when I was last there – 28 years ago!
My son and his wife just bought a house in Cayuga – I visited Hamilton in the summer of ’08 for the first time ever…and revisited Niagra Falls, of course. I’d been there years ago as a kid but don’t really remember it. Got some great pix.
Hi NormaJeane — we’re neighbors it seems! You’re just across the strait.
And hi to everyone else who has posted since I was last in. Supposed to be working so better get back at it!

I live on the Hagersville side of the bridge. We’ve been in Caledonia for 29 years as well.

I live between Orkney and Sutherland St W., just off of Ross St. It’s a little Crescent – MacKenzie Crescent? Do you have kids, if so what school did they go to and did they play any sports in town?
LL said on October 26, 2009
I live up at the end of Forfar St. W. I have a daughter 27 and a son 25. They both went to MPSS. Sara was in Gymnastics. Ken played hockey, basketball and soccer.
I had relatives that lived near you I think, in Shawville, and Renfrew. Is that close? I loved the area, and realized how similar it was to the Okanagan valley in B.C. where I grew up. Now I live on Van. Island and don’t miss the winters at all!!

Hello kitten lover, nice to meet a fellow Cambridgeite!
OMG – could I have been any more Canadian this morning. I am wearing one of my husband’s old Leafs shirts, and the Canadian Tuxedo ( and as a added bonus my jean jacket has plaid flannel lining) – it is freezing – kind of raining/snowing the wind is whipping the leaves around – I am stopping in at Timmy’s and I am still wearing my sandals with no socks. But what a wonderful feeling it is to be Canadian and to laugh along with everyone’s “picture” of what a Canadian is – I can think of nowhere I’d rather be.

Hi Everyone, I just found the site last week. I am originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Got married and moved to Coquitlam, B.C. for 20 years, then my husband took a transfer and we moved to Edmonton, Alberta, We have been here for 12 years now. My husband got a buy out and now We are self employed and work from home, so really thinking of moving back to B.C. I love the island. I do miss the greenery in B.C. it is so beautiful there. We still have a place in Washington though, so we do go back for a few months every year. It is starting to get cold here in Alberta, So would love to get away for the winter.
Looking forward to chatting with everyone.
angel said on October 28, 2009
This sounds almost like my journey. I lived in NW Ontario (Lake of the Woods district, only hours from the peg)…got married in ’82 moved to Calgary for 12 yrs., then hubby transferred to Tsawwassen, BC. A few yrs ago we divorced and I moved to Richmond for 5 yrs. This past summer I moved back to NW Ont. to be near my aging mom. I enjoy getting reacquainted with the family I left behind 30 yrs. ago, but like you I’m missing the BC weather and the coast and the kids I left behind.
Winter…I have yet to get real winter boots, lol.
I got married in 1979, that is when I left Wpg, where abouts are you from. I used to spend lots of time in Kenora, as I had a great Aunt and Uncle that lived there. In Keewatin, we also have some friends from there that we met in Vancouver, and have known them for 25 years, She just went back for a few weeks to spend time with her family. Just assuming you are from that area.
We actually moved my mom from Vancouver 1-1/2 years ago here to Edmonton, as she has alzheimers. And to be so far away was so hard. Now thinking we should have been the ones to move, but our kids are still here. And YUke today it is snowing here, just in time for Halloween. Take Care
angel said on October 29, 2009
I’m not originally from NW Ont., but my dad was. He was born and raised here in the farming community after his parents immigrated from Holland. I was actually born in Minneapolis and then we moved around a fair amount landing us back here in ’75 . We moved to a small community on L. of the Woods called Bergland. Quite a culture shock for myself at 15. My dad wanted to be close to his mom before she passed away. What a small world and how we’ve come full circle!
Kenora is beautiful, actually my boyfriend was there on Tuesday & wished that I had come along for the ride, he said the scenery was amazing. I’m a photoholic.
Alzheimer’s is in my dad’s side of the family too. My aunt in Brandon has it. It’s tough, and my heart goes out to you and your family.
You are lucky to have your kids near by. 3 of my 4 kids remained in the Vancouver area (they’re adults going to university, raising there own business’ and families)…my youngest (16 yrs.) came with me to Fort Frances.
I loved Calgary too, and have a niece in Edmonton, my brother is up at the Oilsands (Ft, Mac).
I’m not sure how long I’ll last here, we’ll see after I get reacquainted with a REAL winter. Kinda got spoiled by the west coast winters.
It’s raining here, just in time for Halloween

Hi All! I was born in Blairemore, Alberta. Haven’t been back since I was 14! Most of my family resides in calgary & I have a few in British Columbia! Right now living in Taxachusettes! Boy talk about homesick! All my family is gone here except my Mom & a private nursing home has literally kidnapped her! I had 4 family members in the same nursin home “Life Care Centers of American” based out of TN! She is in the one in Raynham, MA! She is 83 yrs. old! What I wouldn’t give to have her back in Canada with free health care! She & my grandmother & 2 sisters are from New Foundland! I hope to see it some day. I’m also looking to investigate British Columbia. I heard it is beautiful & prospering! Hail to the Queen! Lorraine
Lorraine, I am from Montreal and moved to British Columbia 21 years ago. I love this province. Many call it God country
Hi Bearlaydi! I’ve heard that is true. I hope to someday find out for myself! Who knows maybe one day we will be able to sit down over a cup of tea & discuss it! Plese look for my all my other posts on here because I sure could use some strong Canadain friends. My Dad never wanted to come to the states he did it for my Mom. I don’t blame my Mom but I sure do understand that my Dad probably new what he was talking about! XO

Hi Rainbow, I am from Brighton, Ontario halfway between Kingston and Toronto right on Lake Ontario. I just recently joined Vibrant Nation and I love it. It is great to see so many Canadians on this site. At 57 and retired at 55 from 37 years working full time in a local hospital I am loving being able to follow my passions and even do some part-time work for a group of Cardiologists in the area. Life is good.

I stayed at a charming B&B last summer in your lovely little town. My husband was riding his bike from Niagara-on-the-Lake to Quebec. I was sightseeing and golfing.
Even though I am working at a second career, I agree that life is good.
EL said on November 1, 2009
Brighton has some lovely B&B’s and being close to the Presqui’le Park makes it even more lovely, especially since they have finished the new boardwalk. Lots of golfing to be had. Which course did you play on? This coming weekend is ‘Christmas at Presqui’le’ Nov 7&8 and 14&15th.
Daiva said on November 3, 2009
I am thinking that the golf course was Warkworth. I won’t be coming to the Presqui’le festivities.. I am busy getting a local Bridge Club trip to Jamaica organized and a few other things done before my husband and I fly to Barbados to go on a Windstar Cruise!! Swimming off the back of the ship, eating outside under the stars, and just relaxing in the warm sunshine before the hectic pace of Christmas is so appealing. I can’t wait!!!

I hope you have a wonderful time. My husband and I sail and swimming off the boat on a beautiful summer night under the stars was one of the best nights of our vacation. Enjoy!

How is that job switch? Did you have to take any courses etc? I am still teaching but know that when I retire I will need something to keep me busy.
Do you enjoy the new job? Any suggestion? Thanks so much.
Daiva said on November 14, 2009
Hi Decorator Dale,
I started out with Cruiseshipcenters and took their course. I am now with Uniglobe Creative Travel and I did take some courses at Mohawk College. Then I had to write the TICO exam this past year to be certified. One of the biggest disadvantages I face is not knowing how to operate the live booking system for flights. There is a person in the office designated to do those sort of things for the outside agents.
This is a great “hobby job”. I really enjoy helping people plan their dream trips. My husband and I have seen a lot of the world but there is so much out there. Not enough time and certainly not enough money!
decoratordale said on November 15, 2009
thank you, something to think about. I thought that travel agents were a thing of the past with all the expedia sites etc. but obviously I was wrong. I will check into these.
I am new on here. I live in Newmarket, ON. but was born and raised in Cornwall, ON. I went to C.C.V.S. HS.

I am glad you did look up the site. Did you look in the Grandmother movement link? Yesterday in Ottawa we had our Granny fest, and I learned from a the SLF that that movement since its beginning has so far raise $7million for the foundation. Isn’t it incredible. The movement has three components: Fundraising, advocay and awareness raising. The Advocay leg is now supporting a bill to change/simplify the legislation allowing generic drugs to be shipped to Afirca and other needy countries. Check it out and if you believe in it, just write to your MP.

HELLO EVERYONE…I joined Vibrant Nation yesterday…born in Montreal…moved to New Brunswick when I was 13…thought my life was over…now I wouldn’t traded it for the world…what a great province to live in…My Dad was a Maritimer and we came east every summer that I can remember…spent those summers on the beaches in N.B. and sometimes in P.E.I. I love it here…would never move back to Montreal…could never live away from the ocean…with it’s treasures of sea glass, shells, and,not to mention the LOBSTER!! I am looking forward spending time communicating with all of you…come east too…you will love the hospitality…

Nice to meet you rataflap…Yes…a vacation drive through the Maritime provinces would be lovely…If you have never been to PEI…a ‘must’ visit is a place called ‘Basin Head Beach’…it is on the eastern part of the Island…just past Surrie…it is magnificent…although PEI is famous for it’s red sand…this beach has white sand…and white sand dunes as far as your eye can see…it is on the Atlantic side of PEI…it is also called ‘Home of the singing sand’…because when you walk on the sand it makes a sound similar to croduroy rubbing together…it also has an outdoor Fishing Boat Museum… this place is a gem among gems…
Happy to live in the Maritimes!!

Ohhh seaglass – I have boxes and boxes of it – that is (lake) beach glass – I find it along Lake Ontaio and Lake Erie ( love to walk on the beaches!) – I live 10 minutes to each – in Niagara Falls. I’ve tried finding it along the ocean – in England, Florida, California, none to be had – you are lucky you have it there. Now I have to think of projects to make to use it all! I’ve never been East – thinking to go this summer. Can’t wait!
Andie55 said on December 10, 2009
Hello Marie…Wouldn’t it be wonderful to sift through those boxes of glass you have collected!! I wish you could see my collection…it is beautiful…if you come east to New Brunswick…YOU MUST visit a tiny community called Richibucto Village…you will find a place called HUDSON’S ODDITIES…and Audrey is the owner…she has a Lighthouse studio where she makes jewelry from seaglass…she also has a display area with hundreds of antique bottles of the most beautiful colors and styles…she has researched the history of the glass and gives informatiion sessions to the public…it is amazing… she can date your glass too…I have glass which dates back to the 1800’s!! This glass is very thick, looks like a black stone until you put it up to the light….and you can see at the very edge of these ‘black’ pieces that they are actually dark green…I have beautiful turquoise, pink, purple, as well as the coveted cobalt blue, and the very rare red…the glass that I find is all smooth and worn by the water and sand over a period of 30-40 years…which are tossed to the waters edge at low tide…I also have the most common colors of white, green, and brown…
This obsession for collecting seaglass has led me to do my own research…and to hunt for the bottles at flea markets and I now have some fantastic antique bottles to show off my collection…
Something you might want to do….which I did…is to separate your glass according to color…rub the glass with a thin layer of oil…go to your local Dollar Store and purchase some clear glass vases to display your own collection…
Happy Treasure Hunting!!

Hi Andie, I will surely go to visit the shop you mentioned! It sounds like the kind of place I would love to open ( in my dreams!) I am doing research into what kind of drill bit is good for drilling holes in the beach glass- for making jewelry and wind chimes. I love the pieces that have raised letters on them.I’ll make a point to bring my faves to have them dated by Audrey. Thanks for the tips! Keep those creative juices flowing! Marie

Hi Everyone, A new member for about 10 minutes and just reading where everyone is from, isn’t it amazing how we can write to each other in such a friendly maner on a site, but on the subway or go train we sit in silence and we are not sure if to speak or noy so we don’t, yet we could be sitting next to a very lonely person, now in saying this I really do understand that not everyone wants to be spoken too.

Hi, I am from Newfoundland and Labrador. I was born in Corner Brook, left there at 6 months of age when my parents moved to St. John’s. I grew up in St. John’s, so yes, I am a townie and proud of it….lol. When I got married 28 years ago we moved to Mount Pearl which is just outside of St. John’s and a place I swore I would never live….lol. But I am still a townie!
Sassy said on November 27, 2009
Hello. I lived in St. John’s for thirty years from 1972 to 2002. I laughed about your comment on Mount Pearl. When my daughter was in high school Mt. Pearl was of course the competition in sports events you just had to beat. Of course she ended up with a boyfriend from Mt. Pearl. After that it became not wanting to have anything to do with the Goulds. She ended up marrying someone from there. My other daughter is with someone from Bay Roberts. When they visited St. John’s in the summer they bought matching t-shirts. Her has Townie on it and of course his has Bayman on it. Makes me laugh.
MillyM said on November 30, 2009
That is so funny. It sounds so much like when I was growing up. I too married a non-townie, he is actually from Mount Pearl; not many people our age can say that…lol. Of course both my daughters are committed to Mount Pearl and I am sure they would never live in St. John’s…ha. The oldest is with a guy from Mount Pearl but the youngerst is in Ottawa and has a boyfriend from there.
My Mother is from St. John’s. Harbour Grace! is that the same thing? She came her with her two sisters & my Grandmother about 56 yrs. ago. There name was Melville! I’m dying to visit. What do you like about it? XO
Harbour Grace is a small town about 40 minutes outside of St. John’s. I have never known anyone who has visited Newfoundland not to fall in love with the place. The people are very friendly and the scenary is awesome. East and West coast are very different from each other. The weather is not always that great but hey, you cannot have everything….lol.

I hope to someday visit there so I can see where my Dad who was watching the German prisoners from the war & met my Mom. I want to see where she lived & where they got married. I heard it was beautiful! I also have relative in British Columbia! Do you know anything about there? XO

Hi bearlady, Pleased to meet you. I was never courageous enough to move too far away from Montreal. Luckily I speak french so I’ve had a good life here regardless of the political situation. In 21 years everything has built up sooo much, especially Vaudreuil in the last 5 years. The biggest Walmart in Canada I’m told, loads of stores, boutiques and restaurants. Nice to finally have them here instead of having to go to Pte. Claire shopping. I just came back from a 3 week Vacation in Miami, but I’m hoping someday soon to visit B.C.
A pleasure to meet you too.
I would go for some sunshine in Florida just about now. This month of November has brought alot more rain that usual.
I am also bilingual and I have started teaching French to kids. My firast group was 3 to 6 years old. It was so much fun, they all learn so quickly.

Salue…just joined this site minutes ago…hailing from the somewhat grey, rainy city of Richmond, BC…originally from Barbados – so, if the weather gets you down, simply fly with me to ‘the island-‘ Barbados, that is…great to be on here…
Salut, I am also new at this site. Greetins from Mission, B.C. and so far no rain tonight. We have had our share of it. We Need some liquid sunshine.
What brought you here

Yes, I am a Canadian. I was born and rasied in New Brunswick – one of the Maritime Provinces or in another category – one of the Atlantic Provinces of Canada. I now live ,married, work and raised my famiy in Nova Scotia – a sister provice. Both Provinces are beautiful. Nova Scotia is pretty much surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. The Bay of Fundy is a common body of water for both provinces and New Brunsick has the most stunning, large and beautiful rivers throughout. If one gets off the highways and just explores New Brunswick , they’ll find it very lovely. I love being by the Atlantic Ocean however and it gives another “feel” altogether – rugged and at times bleak beauty . It also feels like a connector or to the world, at large!
Good Evening Everyone, nice to see some many Canadians here, I joined 2 weeks ago but going through some issues and didn’t get a chance to get back until now…I am from Barrie On. not looking forward to another winter here like the last two

I’m an American-Canadian: born in the Rocky Mountain West, grew up in the Midwest, came to Canada for a holiday and stayed forever. I live in Alberta…near the Rockies of course.
Where’s the posting delete button – for some reason there are three of my original posting.

Hi. I live in Ottawa. Where are you?
rakoon16 said on December 8, 2009
I my name is Carolyn. I live in Vaudreuil-Dorion just outside of Montreal, Quebec. I was just wondering if a follow-up could happen here. Maybe December 15 at 8:00 p.m. All us Canadians could get on here and meet up all together. We could all meet up to wish each other Merry Christmas and share what we will be doing over the holidays. What do others think???
rakoon16 said on December 11, 2009
Well, I guess I found out what others think.

Bonjour Rakoon! Great Idea! The feeling that we are alltogether, at same time! Malheureusement, je n’ai plus que lundi et mardi soirs pour mes courses, ma visite de Noël arrive mercredi. mais je regarderai les échanges le lendemain matin. Bye!

I think that is a wonderful idea. Don’t feel bad about the lack of response, this site is to big and I’m finding that people get lost in here. I find interesting comments and then I have a hard time finding them again. Don’t give up on your idea.

Hi rainbow19, love the name. I am from freezing Prince George, BC. I was born in Golden, BC, then moved around a fair amount. My family called us gypsies. I lived for awhile in Alberta, I hated moving there from the mountains but when it came time to leave I was really sad to go. The people there make the province. Now I live in Northern BC, can’t say as I truly love it but we put our roots down and now it is home. That’s what happens when you start having grandchildren. Like they say “home is where the heart is”.

Hi Rainbow. I’m in Red Deer, Alberta. Right now we’re in a deep freeze.
Zsomdeb said on December 10, 2009
I just had to say hi to you because my mother lives in Red Deer. I talked to my mom on the weekend and she was telling me how cold it is. I feel so bad for her because she is so lonely. I wish I could find ladies her own age that she could do things with. She won’t go to a Seniors Centre (to shy) so I’ve been hoping to find a Centre that reaches out to them. I’ve been researching on the web but haven’t found anything. Would you know of such a program? Any info you can offer is ever so much appreciated. My mom is 77 but she looks like she is 65, and is very outgoing. It seems such a shame that she is spending these years being lonely.

There should be some programs in place through community or perhaps there is a care agency such as Nurse Next Door or Comfort Care or that has people who will go visit and spend an hour a day or telephone everyday just to say. You could probably even arrange it over the phone or internet.
Hi everyone, well its cold in some parts and snowy in others but the warmth on this site is so warming. There are some who have worries and others for whom life is grand and others who are just going day by day. I am here new in Vancouver from Toronto via Brampton and if there are any other lovely women out there perhaps we can make a VN meetup group here in Vancouver. Friends are likely sparkly gems and we need them around us to bring that sparkly into our lives.
Thanks so much. I appreciate your assistance. I will look into your suggestions. It is so hard being so far away from her. Thanks, again.

Hi Joannie and Rainbow1956. I’m from Leduc, and before that lived in PEI all my life until 13 years ago when we moved west. Home is where the heart is. Cold snap is about to end and we will be in a heat wave! Can’t wait!

I’m in Ottawa/Hull/Gatineau area. I was born in Ottawa. Lived in California for 7 years, and the rest in Gatineau across the Ottawa river. I look forward to learning and sharing with you all.

Are you staying warm there in chilly Sask? I grew up in Swift Current, but moved to Calgary in the last 70’s, and now have been on Vancouver Island for the past 4 yrs.

Hi rainbow pretty hard to stay warm at -42C today it is a balmy -26C. I wish everyday I could be in Arizona with some of my friends that spend the winters there. I spent 8 weeks total last winter in the desert and loved it. Are you one of the unlucky ones getting snow out there?
