Why not use style consultants as spokespeople?

I’m curious as to why clothing manufacturers and marketers don’t consider using a style consultant as a spokesperson — the real expert who works at it daily and who is a woman of the median age of your target audience and who truly walks the walk.

This spokesperson would be a woman with the necessary background and credentials because she herself styles and advises on all head-to-toe aspects for real, everyday folks as well as celebrities. Consultants like Sherrie Mathieson are far more effective and credible spokespeople than “famous name” celebrities who have cadres of stylists and make-up people to ensure they look fabulous.

Could this become a grassroots effort at awareness — to not always go for the usual suspects (celebrities) who are not credible beyond their field of endeavor or talent and perhaps bring forth the voices of those who actually style the celebrities and famous names — the people who are choosing and guiding our style choices?
