    Hi Teresak

This is what I do. I am (almost 63) and get compliments on my skin all the time.  I bought those baby facecloths (fine terry ones) 3 to a package in almost any drug store or Wal-Mart type store; and an organic soap (but most soaps will do, I just choose to go organic).  I use medium-warm water in my shower or in the sink, wet the facecloth and gently wash my skin.  Not scrub but gently run the soapy facecloth over all my face and neck.  Then I rinse with the medium-warm water, splash on a bit of cold water right from the tap to really rinse off any remaining soapy residue.  Then I pat it dry and apply an SPF-15 moisturizer onto the clean skin.  I wait a moment or two then dab a bit of Burt’s Bee’s Carrot Day Creme under my eyes and onto my eyelids. (Again almost any rich moisturizer will do – I just like Burt’s Bees.) (Do not apply to eyelids if you’re going to wear shadow however).  I have done this for years and it seems to work.

    Good luck!

      Hello Teresak,

When I had children, about 10 years ago, I discovered Cetaphi cleanser.  I find it is an amazing product and does not dry out the skin.   We all use it.  However, I am convinced that great skin happens from inside – from good nutrition – green juices, lots of veggies and fruit, and exercise.   Then Cetaphil cleanser for all else.   Best wishes, M.

Hi Teresak, I just thought Id share this regime with you.  My mother had the most beautiful skin, though she was a sun worshiper and hiker well in to her 50′s.She exfoliated with a mixture of sea salt+honey+olive oil.Mix to a consistency you like and gently wash your face with it. Rinse well with cool water. She did this once a week. Every  night she used Nivea creme. She absolutely glowed.I do this as well. I also love Palmers Shea butter.A little goes a long way. I guess my skin is natually dry, so this works for me.

It is funny to hear you mention olive oil. I have been “testing new home recipes on my face” for about a month. I have these irritating hairs that spring out of my chin overnight they are suddenly and inch long, lol. Pluck, pluck, pluck… literally digging holes in my face because i cannot see the wiskers, only feel them.

So, one night decided to use olive oil and rub gently and apply to affected areas such as chin and above my lip. So far the results are fascinating. I do not see the hair growing as fast or being as prickly since using the olive oil rub. Thank God, no more holes and only plucking once a week instead of every night!!!!

I agree. I have worked in medicine and around alot of aging folks for many years. One woman I met had the most beautiful skin. I didn’t hesitate to look at her age(90)her paperwork and ask her how she had kept heer skin so beautiful. She replied, soap, water and crisco lard!!! I use it every night since then..My husband even tells ppl what works to keep you skin smooth, crisco lard. He replies, it keeps her face s o smooth!!

But I do also use mud cleansing packs, olay microdermabrasion cream and activator, olay skin wash and olay lotion mixed with makeup. This also makes your makeup lighter , more like wearing nothing at all except the coverup. Also use a pore minimizer. cool water after  washing and pat dry.. but always lard at night..

Does the crisco or olive oil make your skin break out (acne) at all?  I’m fascinated by this discovery, who knew you could eliminate dry skin and unwanted hair with crisco and olive oil. Have you tried it on the bikini area to see if it stops that from growing too? I was getting laser hair removal which works for about 3 months then it comes back, even after their 5 treatments. BTW lasers won’t kill gray hair….ya think that could be my problem :) lol

First of all, I have only tried the olive oil on my chin and upper lip. It seems to have decreased the times between plucking and the prickleness of the hair. I have not tried it anywhere else on my body, but  who knows, maybe??? I love the lard that I put on my face. My husbands says my face is sooooo smooth because of it and even has told his friends about it.

I have had no acne problems or any break outs associated with usage. I have dry skin and it get soaked up pretty quickly.

I am new here and loving the different topics!!  I LOVE my Galvanic + AgeLoc Transformation creams and use the entire system 3 times per week.  My pics show that I’ve taken about 10 years off my face & neck (+ body) in approximately 30 days.  I take it wherever I go .. & it only takes 15 minutes to do.  Easy-breezy & I am getting many compliments about my glowing & rejuvenated skin!

I have extremely dry skin plus rosacea – no pimples, just the redness that comes with rosacea.  While I’m told that I look a lot younger than my 61 years, I wasn’t happy with the condition of my skin.  I did some research and am in the process of undergoing microdermabrasion.  I’ve had 3 treatments so far and I love the results.  My skin is much softer and smoother and absorbs my moisturizer much better than before.  And my skin is much less red so I’m using much less foundation and the fine lines are fading more with each treatment.  I’ll have 3 more treatments.  I also bought the Clarisonic Facial system to maintain the benefits of the microdermabrasion – it just arrive yesterday so haven’t used it yet, but its gotten great reviews.

    Hi all,

    Hi lades!

I’m 56 and have been blessed (and cursed) with oily skin my entire life.  Now it really is a blessing since it wrinkles less.  I have been noticing more dryness lately.  My regime is Philosophy Exfoliating Wash in the morning (I love it) and Philosophy Purity at night.  When I use moisterizer I use Philosophy Hope in a Jar.  My skin feels baby soft.

All the greasy cremes (or Crisco) would still break me out at my age.
