Ladies, I’m going off the grid for a bit but no worries, I’ll return to you fabulous, vibrant women around the 1st of July.
I’m headed for vacation time: 1/2 the week fufilling an obligation and 1/2 the week to hang out with my sister.
Today I was getting ready for the trip: laundry twirling, dry cleaning dropped off, settling in to enjoy a new read, The Journal Keeper, while my toes were geting a shiny coat of strawberry margarita. While settling in, I noticed a recent copy of Vanity Fair with Grace Kelly on the cover.
I found it amazing that this beautiful, chic woman was on a cover more than 25 years after her death. However, I had to admit, I reached for the magazine to once again enjoy her calm, her cool, and her style. I love the Grace Kelly style and the Jackie Kennedy style of fashion. Even if I tried to dress like them with contemporary fashion, I could never pull it off. I just don’t have the chic gene.
But oh how i enjoyed looking over those photos again and imagining what if I did. How fun would it be to have the confidence of knowing what you were wearing was perfect in its simplicity and that you were looking the best you absolutely could look.
Evie and Doris, I'm so with you on this. My dad used to say, "Family is everything," but when he died, so did the family. Or, to apply the loveliness of the Holmes poetry, after horrendous abuse, I just drifted away. Family is an accident of birth. L
