Should I Mortgage My House To Buy A Bathing Suit? Hot Conversation

Ok so that is an exaggeration but really is it too much to ask for a bathing suit made for my pop bellied menopausal body that doesn’t cost over $100? I’m vain enough that I want to look good, I want a bathing suit that pulls in my tummy lifts my boobs and makes the best of what I have.  The suit I LOVE is nearly $300… please…. Just because we are over 50 does that mean we all have big bucks socked away to spend that kind of money on something that we will wear in a pool? Miraclesuit? Bankruptcysuit is more accurate.

Apparently we need to pay a lot for miracles!  Looks like we’re asking a bathing suit to replace cosmetic surgery. :D

LOL, but not really, I only have a pooch of a pot belly I probably could wear shapewear under another suit but I LOVE this suit, very 50s glam, it’s a bathing suit, all I want to do is wear it in the pool not parade in a swimsuit contest….

i gave up on bathing suits a while back.  I have bathing suit tops from my old two pieces and match them to breathable shorts that dry pretty quickly, it looks like a suit and at the same time can just sit on the lido deck to read.

You are SO right!! Even at the end of the summer on a 50% off sale , bathing suits appropriate for our age group are RIDICULOUSLY expensive.

I have been wearing the same basic black one for years.

I was in Walmart on Saturday and today I’m going back to buy the perfect swim suit for me.  It’s the kind that has good boob support and a lose top below the bust.  It looks like a tennis dress.  The suits costs 35 dollars.

Thats great!! I look like I’m wearing a maternity dress in those suits but it’s great you like them. But if you happen to find a glam 50s style Miraclesuit while you’r there let me know!!!!!

YOur title really got my attention.  I was able last summer to buy one off a clearance rack at Fashion Bug for under $20.00.  Took me a while to find one, but I know that they are out there.  I am surprise with the raising demographics of women our age that more manufacturers and retailers don’t seem to have a clue about  us.

All I ever use one is when I am at hotels that have hot tubs and whirlpools.  Still trying to get one of docs to ‘prescribe’ a a whirlpool or hot tub.  For some reason, they just chuckle when I suggest it.

Thanks, I’ll keep checking Fashion Bug.  I agree totally – why aren’t there more manufacturers of supportive, shapewear type bathing suits out there?  And really why when there are should they be that expensive?  I believe Miraclesuit has been out a number of years – if they had a patent isn’t it over by now?  Also, how much does it really cost to make one of those suits?  Anyone have any idea?  I don’t begrudge any company making a profit but I think anything over 100-150% profit is robbery.  $295.00 for a bathing suit? Nonsense, even $100.00 is nuts….

I would love to see Vibrant Nation research this and find us some great suits at affordable prices.  It would also be nice to have some links on this site for clothing that is a little more reasonable too.  I love the clothing on the links here but again $65.00 for a tee shirt? Or even that price for a cotton blouse?  Sorry, but not all of us over 50 have the BIG BUCKS to pay for the items at the stores on the site.  How about $75.00 for a COTTON nightgown? I haven’t checked every store link from here but the ones I have looked at are a little pricy.  But I digress…

Wow!   Congratulations!   I agree with every word you wrote.  I pass on most everything that I would dearly love to have when the price tag is nothing short of robbery.  I am interested in the suit you like.  After you have it safe and sound in your hands, would you be willing to share the name of the Miraclesuit?   Last summer I “discovered” I love swimming at the Y pool.  I needed some kind of exercise that does not aggravate my joints.  The suit thing, though, has been a real challenge and I still haven’t solved it.

So glad you pulled off this “coup.”  Wise lady.
