Realistic illustrations

I  frequently enjoy catalog shopping.  It doesn’t bother me that the models are much younger, complexions smooth and fresh, nor does the perfecth hair and make up annoy me.  What really gets to me is how I can imagine my self (size 1x) in the same outit that the model is in when maybe she is a size 4.  This happens frequently in illustrations in plus size catalogs..  Is there truth in advertising out there where the clothing is on women of size? My body is no longer perfect, there are no Spanx tight or firm enough.  I’d just like some other opinions on this,  and idea’s of where to find realistic attractive clothing.

It’s just insane, isn’t it? So many BIG beautiful girls out there already in the modelling biz, starving for work, and they get skinny girls to model clothes that don’t even come in their size.  Silhouettes.com is a good example (nice site BTW, Namaste, some sweet clothes).  I think I saw one girl there that might be as big as a size 10.  None that looked like they’d fill out a 12W.  None.  Crazy.

Penningtons and AdditionElle (same site) actually use fairly big models (at least size 16).  You might like to check them out. http://www.1-plus.com/penningtons.htm
