Is there a makeup/foundation/mineral powder that DOESNT show every pore, line, crease, etc? I would like to wear makeup for work but my skin actually looks BETTER without a foundation and I have tried quite a few….any suggestions from my 50+ gals??

I like to use Orlane products when I can get them. Currently, I’m having success with Clinique. I like the smoothness and apply it sparingly. The sunscreen is the most important thing.
Curious though why you would use foundation if you look better without.
I don’t have suggestions, but I’m totally on board with you. I’m light-skinned and would wear foundation if I could find anything that didn’t settle in the lines and making them more pronounced. I’ve had some luck with tinted moisturizer.
The moisturizer you use is really important. If the foundation is cakeing, then it’s drying out. Alot has to do with skin type. Dry, oily or combo.
Estee Lauder.s tinted moisturizer is terrific.
You have to use a Primer underneath. It’s like a very lightweight lotion that glides on. It fills in all the little creases and helps with oil throughout the day. Works great. I use Sheer Cover foundation, but Bare Minerals Primer.
I sell Artistry products and use Time Defiance skin care and foundation. They are absolutely the best![EDITED BY MODERATOR]
Hi, I am 60 years old and wear mineral foundation. Met a seller on ebay and she mixed me some for winter (paler) and summer (darker brown). May i say i look wonderful and not madeup. Very natural look. She has blush and eye shades just right. HEAVENLY MINERALS ON EBAY. Pst, it’s Minerals name of store. Have been her customer for 4 years now, very helpful and i’m pleased. Prices are wonderful. So women of all shades go there, it’s worth the trip.
I use a trick I learned from a make-up artist. My Clinique foundation was a perfect match, but too heavy. I love my moisturizer (Regenerist serum). So I place a dab of my moisturizer on the back of my hand, then add a smaller dab of my foundation. Swirl together and then dab onto my face and blend. The best fo both products.
I also tried mineral makeup and it made all of my fine lines look much more prominent. I had tried using a lotion as a base before applying the mineral makeup. I tried Bare Minerals, RAW, and one other powder I don’t recall the name. I had the same problem with all of them. The makeup looked very unnatural on my skin as well. I just wanted to even out the appearance of the skin. I just use a lotion for moisture and a bit of blush. In the summer my face gets tan and makes it look healthier.
Bare Minerals….does the trick. If it looks fakey….you have used too much. The trick is to use a little and “buff it in”…. after using Bare Minerals for 7 years….the glow I get looks like it is from within!! Good stuff…..best prices at www. VC.com and a 30 day money back guarantee !!
I use Lancome Tientidole Ultra it’s 14 hour retouch fee and oil free. I put a moisturize underneath and no wrinkles or lines show all day.
Hi….I absolutely believe in Arbonne skin care products….the foundation and mineral powder are so light and good for your skin. I’ve never used anything that comes even close. Arbonne.com.
Good luck…….Kate
I have found that Mary Kay foundations are excellent.. various coverages for various needs.. and the best part is that they are guaranteed and you can try before you buy!!!
I find the “cleaner” the product the better it is for my skin now. I use Aveda skin care (all natural) and Chanel Lift Lumiere firming and smoothing liquid makeup. Awesome stuff! Blends in but covers nicely because my skin is blotchier than it used to be. Kinda pricey, but I am worth it!
I own an anti-aging website so I really keep up on new products and formulas. We do a lot of product testing as well. Mineral makeups can work well for women who still have normal to oily skin. However, most of us Age Warriors tend to have dry to very dry skin and need a creamier but light foundation.
I was pleased to see Clinique mentioned several times in this thread beacuse it’s my #1 foundation pick (Clinique Even Better SPF 15) and I use it myself. My #2 is Dior Sculpt Line-Smoothing Lifting SPF 20 and #3 is Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Extreme SFF 15.
I hope this is helpful.
wow! thanks for all the responses! Now I need to chose what to do! I have never spent the money on the high price stuff, just cover girl, etc….maybe that is the problem! I will still be reading this post for more suggestions, so keep it up ladies!
I have worn Clinque for years and it wasn’t working anymore for those line.I switched to Estee Lauder ,who owns Clinque and I am very satisfied
Bare Escentuals is proven to SHRINK pores….if everythng is magnified, perhaps you have used too much. It is an art to put on, it is not a powder. Once you get the hang of it, it is easy and really looks great, not to mention the many benefits for our skin!!
I agree with using Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals. I have never found anything that makes my skin look so, so good! I put on my makeup last week and found that I had to make a quick run over to the hair salon that I go to to pick up something. When I walked in , the owner a a few of the “girls” that worked there were all commenting on how beautiful my skin looked. Yes, you must be careful to not use too much. A little goes a long way! Once you get the hang of it, you can virtually put it on in the dark. It is almost a mistake free makeup as long as you learn to use a very light hand.
Mary Kay foundations.
I used Cover Girl for my entire lifetime until I turned 45 and my skin began to show age. I now use Rimmel foundation the 16 hour one) and find that it is perfect. I used to spend a fortune on different foundations but this one is cheap and nice to my 53 year old skin.
If you can find it, maybe on line, I love origins, next of skin… it is the best makeup ever… it covers, but doesn’t feel heavy and is loaded with good for you skin care ingredients… I am hooked!!!
I swear by the Mary Kay TimeWise line of products. I totally agree with the other posts that what you put under your foundation is the key. The TimeWise line of skin care is targeted to over 40 skin and they have just introduced a new replenishing serum to the skincare line.
I really like the Cover Girl with Olay foundation!! Just remember that it is lighter than it looks so choose your color accordingly.
I sell Mary Kay products. The skin care line alone will destroy wrinkles and fine lines.
I really like the mineral makeup. I’m passed 50, have a smooth medium brown complexion. I don’t like the made up look but go more for the natural look. I’m currently using BareMinerals…. it fits me and my lifestyle perfectly. I really like that it evens me out without a line of where it starts and stops. And the more you buff the more polished you look. I don’t have any blemishes so it’s perfect for my needs in that I don’t like to wear lots but want to look polished when I do out. I don’t find that it cakes or settles into creases either. This is just one woman’s opinion but I’ve used several brands of makeup over the course of my years and this just fits where I am now.. Hope this was helpful.
I have the same problem! As a result, I don’t wear foundation overall, but use Revlon Cream Foundation (in a compact) to cover up the problem areas, then go over with a sheer powder from a compact to finish. It works really well!
