Hate is a little strong, but I strongly dislike tats.  I think they make beautiful skin look dirty.

I love most of the ones I have seen so far.   To me it’s a form of art.  It’s a portable painting of sorts.  One you can admire anywhere you go, it’s always with you.  Everyone I have talked to have had it done for different reasons and they are reminded of a special person, event etc.  when they look at their tatoo(s).  I think it is special to them and they don’t have it done for anyone else but themselves.  It’s sort of like women who wear make up.  I haven’t worn any since my teenage years but can still relate to people who do.  Some go overboard to my liking with the tats, as do women who have layers upon layers of makeup on.  But hey, it’s their body, right?!?  Still can’t help myself from doing a double take and stare sometimes, at the overindulgence of tats and or makeup.

A form of self expression like wearing makeup, earings, jewelry etc.  I intend on getting a tatoo one day, just a small one.

i was talking to a customer yesterday about this very subject.  In Guatemala if you have a tattoo can be reasons for not being hired at a good job, even if is hidden.  So her husband was telling me that when he went to a Bank to be hired, they asked him to undress down to his shorts to see if he had any, anywhere in his body.  Can u freaking believe that?  Also there you have to send a self picture w/your resume.  Wow! If u have not been blessed with a handsome face, forget about it!  I do not particularly care for tattoos.  They are too permanent and very painful to get rid of…

Dymomomma, I am an artist…I have very strong emotions, if you are offended by my using the dreaded ‘H’ word…Hate… so be it. I also have to admit that I love, Yes I said LOVE, some of the art work these artist create. Their art would last longer, survive in better condition, not rot in thr ground some day and in my eyes be better appreciated if they were on canvases not skin. My own husband has 2 tats. Bother done when, as he puts it, he was too young and stupid to know better. The fact that I hate his tats doesn’t play a part in my love for him as a human being. Just like my son, LOVE him dearly…hate what he has done to his body with the tats.

There is also the aspect of this art that sucks…not art at all in my eyes….just like some of the art work that hangs on walls.

I have a tat on my inner right thigh – it’s a teddy bear holding a heart with my name on it.  I got it 15 years ago and for the most part I forget it’s there until someone notices it and comments on it.  I still love it!!!  It’s on my inner thigh because I didn’t want it to impede my chances of climbing the corporate ladder - but now 15 years later – I don’t care about corporate jobs, but because I’m over 50 I think it inappropriate to go around flashing my thigh like I’m a 30-something.  Most times you don’t see it unless I’m in a bathing suit or wearing shorts.  However, I still love it because it sets me apart from other 50 year olds.  Having said that – I was on the bus the other day and saw a woman who had not one – but two – tats on her FACE!!!  And she DEFINITELY was over 55 – or at least appeared to be.  I couldn’t help but stare at her during my bus trip.  She had a clover on one cheek and what looked like a heart on the other.  I personally think that’s over the top because you can’t hid a tat on your face – no matter what you do.  But to each their own!!!
