Coconut Oil Most Liked

Has anyone tried coconut oil? I read of the benefits and am now giving it a whirl. Sure hope all the hype is worth it. Would love to hear from others who use it.

    Hi Deborah,

I started using virgin coconut oil (VCO) several years ago and now can’t believe I ever lived without it.

As a vegan I have replaced butter with VCO and use it for cooking because it can withstand high heat. I still use olive oil for salad dressing, dips and pesto.

I’m particular about the products I use which is why I refuse to buy commercial sunscreens or moisturizers as they’re full of toxic ingredients. Instead, during the day I use coconut oil on my face as a light moisturizer.

At night after my shower I apply it all over my body, and for my face and feet I use a mixture of equal parts VCO, castor oil and olive oil.

I’ve heard that coconut oil has a remarkable ability to heal the skin and shield it from the harmful effects of the sun’s UV rays. On those rare occasions I get a sunburn I apply coconut oil or calendula cream to the red spots.

By the way, I’ve been told many times I have great skin. I don’t know if it’s because of what I do or just luck.

I’ve been using coconut oil for a few weeks and blogging about it.  So far, I’m sold on the benefits and I don’t see too many drawbacks, especially for the low price!  Thanks for asking the question – Sharon

I have been using coconut oil for several years and recommend it to everyone. It’s not only unbelievably healthy but it tastes fabulous.  Use it in place of vegetable oil for anything and everything. Gives a great taste to pancakes, fried eggs, drizzled over fresh vegetables.  Your kids will love it, too.

Coconut oil is fabulous….for cooking, as a moisturizer once a week for my skin repair treatments, and apparently it reduces cholesterol, boosts the immune system and all sorts of great stuff for health.  After using it for more than a year my doctor says I am in great health so I feel it’s an advantage over other types of oil for cooking.

In looking for gluten substitutes for bakery products, I tried coconut flour for waffles and pancakes and they are fabulous; light, fluffy and delicious. Also using unrefined coconut oil for baking etc. is really nice if you want a slight sweet coconut tinge to your baking.  Like, it makes wonderful french toast. For all other cooking, I use refined coconut oil which has no taste whatsoever. Love it!!!
