Don’t worry too much about the semi-formal night. You can shine with a simple style — such as a pair of black slacks and a pretty top with a pair of dressy sandals. Some women will be dressed to the nines, and if that’s your style, that’s okay too. I know I feel better when I’m not weighed down with fancy clothes and jewelry. The point is that women dress more individually than they did years ago. You’ll see almost everything but jeans.
You’ll need some sweaters on the first 2 and last 2 days, and the rest of the time it’s just like being out and about on a summer day in your home town. Bermuda used to be rather prim, formal, and British but now there’s a really casual ambiance.
I love wearing a super fancy formal dress on cruise formal night but that’s just me. Any excuse for a princess gown. You will be fine wearing a pretty sundress if you want to be more casual — or just about anything, as Sienna said.
A few musts:
A comfortable cover-up for the pool so you can go from your deck chair to the lunch buffet line still wearing your swimsuit but appropriately dressed.
A satchel that packs up small but opens up large. Use it for toting your towel, book, sunscreen, etc to poolside.
A pretty shawl or wrap. Sometimes it can be cold inside the dining room or on deck after sundown.
Depending on where you are docking: A money belt or some way to keep your cash and credit cards close to your body. Tourists are targeted in ports of call.
Have fun! Cruises are so relaxing.
