The “Nanoblur” Report Hot Conversation

On June 24, 2010 I blogged about “Nanoblur” a “nano prism” optical treatment that erases signs of aging in seconds (see “Getting Blurry” blog post).

I ordered Nanoblur (and their multi-peptide treatment called “Snoxin“) and the stuff arrived today. I tried the Nanoblur immediately. It works. It really works! For $19.00 a tube, I am never going to be without this stuff!

It goes on nicely – actually, it doesn’t feel like there is anything on your skin at all. My creases, lines, wrinkles and pores were all instantly reduced (“blurred”?) by about 35% to 40%, I’d estimate. Those are great results, especially for the price.

The overall effect reminds me of the movies, when they put a flattering, soft focus filter on the lens to film older women. Remember how nice Doris Day always looked?!? I’m sure they still do this in Hollywood, but somehow older movies are what came to mind when I saw my face soften before my eyes.

I also used it on the backs of my hands and on my elbows – and those areas looked immediately improved and younger as well. Frankly, I would like to be able to bathe in the stuff!

My “Jane Iredale Mineral Cosmetics” make-up went on really nicely over the Nanoblur. I would recommend a mineral powder make up for use with Nanoblur, because I think a liquid/cream foundation would tend to dislodge it or dilute its effect. If you haven’t tried Jane Iredale products, her Pure Pressed Base Mineral Powder is just terrific (and has SPF 20).

So, I am off to a baby shower this afternoon (for a much younger friend of mine) and feel confident I am putting my best “Nano-blurred” face forward for spending time with a group of 30-somethings! I’ll be sure to report any comments or compliments.

Next I am test-driving the Snoxin. Stay tuned.

Todo bien. (It’s all good.)

I would be interested to know how long it stays on especially in the heat and humidity. Thanks for the tip.

Me too!  And I don’t use mineral powder, so I’d like to know if liquid foundation can be used on top of nanoblur once it’s dry. We need guinea pigs! And I need this stuff in the next ten days! (Who keeps hitting that !!! key?)

        Hi Duffy and Namaste,

Just got back from sitting on a deck for 3 hours in the full sun – Nanoblur is still in place and working its magic.  So, it stands up to heat, but it wasn’t all that humid today so this was not a humidity test.

I think it would be fine in humid conditions.  As to really extreme humidity (like drippy wet tropics) well, I wouldn’t expect anything to stay on my face.

Duffy, I am sure it can be easily used with liquid foundation…the Nanoblur would not have to “dry”, but you’d probably want to wait 5-6 minutes just to let it kind of set before you put something else on top.

I did get compliments that I was looking good (think it’s a combo of Nanoblur and my new thyroid meds giving me a new lease on life!).  I really recommend this product.

I ordered it tonight, so I guess I’ll definitely be using it. Okay, so now what can I do about the puffy area between my eyebrows and eyelids that practically touches my eyelashes and makes me look so tired? Hemorrhoid cream perhaps? (No wait, I think that’s for under the eyes and I don’t need it there.) Help, help! (grin)

        Hi Duffy!

I will be interested to hear what you think of the Nanoblur!

I get that eye puffiness as well, between the eyebrow and eyelids, and discovered its mostly related to how much water I’m retaining (“edema”); I have had bad issues with edema for about 2 years.

Facial swelling, especially puffiness around the eyes, is a sign of thyroid problems (which can only be determined through blood tests of three things: TSH, T3 and T4 levels – most docs only test for TSH level and that’s not the full picture).

I started a thyroid hormone last week (dessicated pig thyroid – essentially a bio-identical hormone) and my eye puffiness has disappeared!  Between Nanoblur and thyroid medication, I am feeling/looking like a new-ish woman!

I know due to your situation you can’t take “hormones”, but I am still wondering about the thyroid possibility for you.  I found an amazing website dedicated to thyroid facts and busting thyroid myths that you may want to check out – Google “Stop The Thyroid Madness” or find and click the link I put in a conversation post entitled “Thyroid Problems – Check This Out!”

My “eye puffiness” I mentioned isn’t technically puffiness – it’s fatty tissue between my eyebrows and eyelids that causes the skin to almost touch my eyelashes. I have a friend who had hers fixed – I think for free – because her eye doctor managed to convince her insurance company it was interfering with her ability to see and drive.

She took close-up “before and after” pictures, so I took a closeup picture of my eyes and “Whoa!” – they were at least as bad as her, if not worse. Here are both our “before” pictures – me on top, Paula on the bottom.

        http://s50.photobucket.com/albums/f327/DuffyM52/?action=view&current=Duffy-Paula-eyes.jpg

I couldn’t link it, don’t know why – but if you’re curious a copy and paste will take you to the picture. The thing is, my eyes rarely look like that in pictures, because I have long bangs and if someone points a camera at me, I give myelf an instant (and very temporary) eye-lift by raising my eyebrows halfway to my hairline. While also trying to look natural, of course – which isn’t easy!

Regarding your thyroid post, Lisa – I went to the website, read it word for word and was fascinated. I’d need to know what it costs per month, though, because we live on an extremely tight budget in order to maintain our present lifestyle. And because we have prescription insurance, we either get our drugs through Medco or we don’t get them. (Well, not unless they’re extremely inexpensive.)

Can you p.m. me with the cost of your thyroid medication? I’m definitely interested, I just don’t know that it’s in our budget for me to do on a daily basis.

Duffy, I sent you a private e-mail – but for anyone else who is curious as to cost…my 600 30 mg dessicated pig thyroid pills cost me less than $36.00.  I take 2 a day, so that is almost a years’ supply for less than $40.00 – very affordable.

OH! Does a doctor have to order them? I remember trying to figure that out from the website, but I had a migraine this morning and my brain wasn’t working well. Hopefully not, since I don’t even have a GP anymore. Mine suffered from a major mid-life crisis, got a divorce, quit answering his phone…..

I need to remember to find a new GP, too. ***sigh*** I shall go read my e-mail now. Thanks, Lisa!

Hi Duffy, these are prescription meds and my doc ordered it, but go back to the website when you don’t have a migraine(!) as I think she cites options for thyroid testing and getting the meds without needing a local GP.

I don’t think so, Lisa. I’ve clicked on 1,800 links on that website and I’m pretty sure it can’t be done without a doctor involved. Plus, I managed to bring on a stress headache doing it.

The Nanoblur website recommends putting Nanoblur on after liquid foundation but before powder foundation. Hope this helps. I appreciated the article and some real life unbiased opinion.

Hi Lisa, thanks for the endorsement! I went online and had no issues with ingredients so I ordered both it and the Snoxin (that name cracks me up!). I wear liquid foundation due to some roseacea issues so I will test run it and report back how it goes. It is very humid here now so will see about that too.

Thanks for sharing.  I purused the nanoblur and Jane Iredale sites to find out more about the products, etc. and will definitely give the nanoblur a try.  Our coloring (face, hair) seems to be the same from what I can tell from your photo so I was wondering if you could tell me what shade of the Pure Pressed Base Mineral Powder you purchased.  Thanks.

Hi – if I’ve had no sun on my face, I use “Satin”.

If I have a tan, I use “Golden Glow”.

If I am in-between pale and tan, I swirl my brush over both Satin and Golden Glow and mix them.

Thanks for the quick reply!  I’ll go with the Satin since I try to keep the sun off my face as much as possible — I live in Tucson AZ where the sun can be quite harsh on the skin in the summer.

Yeah, I am tempted to buy a case of Nanoblur.  I mean, what if they discontinue it, like every perfume and eye shadow colour that I have ever loved?

    Hi Lisa,

When you ordered did you incur a $35.00 shipping fee?

You neglected to mention that. Makes a $19.00 tube $44.00, not so reasonable then.

Did you order it Fed Exs next day?  Current shipping is $7. by regular mail with an additional $25. if you want it delivered next day by Fed Ex which would make it $32.. and not a good deal at all.

Lisa, I tried the nanoblur today. My comments: my skin feels nice but not so sure it is any nicer. I noticed no difference. Not on my face, nor the backs of my hands. It gives a very matte “foundation” so there is no dewiness, this may be something I have to get used to though. I have not looked at myself in florescent lighting and it is gloomy outdoors so no sunshine test. I did not expect to shave years or even percentage off, but was hoping for a more refreshed look. Didn’t get it that I can see.

I read the reviews, not on Indeed’s site but some others and it did get kudos but from younger women. My snoxin review will need to wait until I have gone the full week and then 28 days to see.

Has anyone tried wearing it over makeup?—— as even some primers can be worn on top of makeup to spot touch throughout the day.

I love nanoblur.  You can wear it over liquid makeup, but under powder makeup.  I think it is the best instant fixer I have ever tried.  It also seems to blur out skin disclorations and definitely makes pores look smaller.  I live in Canada and can pick it up at the drugstore.  It sounds like it costs a lot for shipping if you are in the U.S.  I have not tried the Snoxin yet but I think I will in the near future.
