How to minimize bags under eyes: 7 tips Most Liked

Bags under the eyes is one of the most challenging beauty problems for women of a certain age.

  1. First of all get yourself a soft pillow so that you can sleep on your back.
  2. Then put a set of spoons in the freezer so that you can use them first thing in the morning. Pop two spoons on your eyes in the morning. These will jumpstart your circulation as well as reduce the swelling from overnight.
  3. Find a silicone-based foundation in a shade slightly darker than your natural color. This is a one product area – except for the HD setting powder coming up so the silicone formula acts as a primer as well. You’ll be using this under your eye. Apply with a small flat synthetic brush. Use a tiny amount. The sound of your brush should make is blend, blend, blend, blend, blend.
  4. Blend out all the edges. Now move to the second eye, complete that before doing any touchups.
  5. Brush a light coat of HD mineral translucent powder over the area with a small eyeshadow pony brush. (www.janetlamar.com) You want this area to appear as smooth as possible.
  6. Now finish your eye make-up by choosing an eyeshadow shade that is either lighter or darker than the tone that you’ve put beneath your eye. You want to take attention away from that area.
  7. Add a thin line of a silicon-based waterproof liner on the TOP lid only, one coat of mascara and don’t forget your brows! Nothing goes under the bottom lashes.

After some practice, you’ll be able to do this in less than five minutes.

I find the best brushes are by Sonia Kashuk at Target. They are manufactured by the same USA company that the high-end department store brands use. Don’t pay more for great quality!

Great advice for these tired, baggy eyes;  I love the spoon suggestion! You know I am going to try that as soon as possible, but it’s interesting to read about applying a shade slightly darker to the undereye area.  I have doing just the opposite and probably DRAWING more attention to the undereye area!  I am going to impliment these great suggestions, and I will let you know.

THE BEST way to get rid of bags make your eyes sparkley and even give a nice hint of color for the lids is with the tea bag
hot water then remove the bag make sure its not too hot and then put it over each eye for at least a min
result – your eyes will feel so refreshed and look fantastic plus it deflates the bags fast- plus you get that slight tint from the tea bag which makes the eyes look very pretty

Hi Anonymous; I have always heard about tea bags to reduce under eye puffies, but my mother always warned there was a danger with tannic acid getting into the eye. If you know anything to assuage this fear, I am very interested.

Anonymous and Chris; I haven’t tried either remedy as yet, but my eyes are telling me to do something before I frighten women and children and tiny animals.  I think I will try the spoons ( sometimes I wrap an icecube in a paper towel and apply); lack of sleep, position of sleep and allergies all contribute ( note how I didn’t mention AGE, but OF COURSE), I am finally, after years of being afraid, going to use the tea bags, but should they be cooled to certain temperature?
      Thank you so much!

Well, I tried the frozen spoons on my eyes for the puffiness.  Didn’t make a difference, maybe made them worse. Did it work for anyone else?? I will try the tea bags next, but I’m not feeling terribly optimistic. Jennie, did either approach work for you?

I do find the puffiness subsides somewhat as the day progresses, so to some degree gotta be sleep related. I do think sleeping on your back would help with puffiness and wrinkles too, but near impossible to switch from being a side sleeper. Any tips to make that switch in addition to the suggestion to buy a soft pillow??

Eye lid lift: I had a lid lift done 3 years ago – was the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.  At 49 it’s enough dealing with ‘the change’ at least I don’t have to look like I’m tired all the time!
