The brands and colors that have “always worked” for you may not be the best now. Besides, isn’t it fun to try new things? VN members have shared their recommendations for the best eyeshadow brands to hide wrinkles, make your eyes sparkle, and help you look your best.
Facesoverfiftydotcom, a VibrantNation member with her own skincare line, has lots of advice which eyeshadow colors to choose and which colors are best for your delicate lids.
She recommends softer shadows with less pigment. “Brands like MAC, Smashbox
, Chanel
, Lancome
, and the like are very pigment-dense.” She said that the pigment-rich shadows can be challenging to work with on thin, wrinkled skin. She also recommends avoiding cream shadows — even the new varieties that contain silicone — because they are difficult to control and can emphasize fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes. “Unless you are quite masterful at application, you’ll end up with creme shadow in the outer creases of your eye,” she explained.

Instead, she recommends using a soft, matte, powdery, sheer color that’s near the natural color of the skin on your face — not the skin on your eyelids. She recommends eyeshadows from CoverGirl

Yes, Dior Lifting Eyeshadow is wonderful! I’ve tried the Ivory and the Gray, but it is very expensive and was wondering what other brands have been tried by women that they would recommend that are less expensive. The Dior Lift is $61 for a Palette. Any other recommendations? I’d love to hear.

I use Estee Lauder, their eye shadows are shimmery and stay in place. I use Lancome eye liner
, it goes on and does not smudge. I am 57, and get compliments on my eye makeup all the time. I also use Estee Lauder mascara
.

Also have to mention P.F. Brow Definer – Automatic Brow Pencil #3688 Blonde Beige
. I’m a light blonde and have never found a brow pencil that was light enough, until now. Not only does it NOT have any red tones, but it is the perfect shade for me, and glides on like no other I have tried. Absolutely NO pulling/tugging and no sharpening.
Canie Canie says:
You might like a cream shadow, such as Bobbi Brown’s
. Otherwise, look at Laura Mercier Sateens
or Paula Dorf Glimmers. You want a soft sheen finish, not a glittery or matte one.

Check out Jane Iredale. You may have to find it on the web, but it’s terrific.

I use Jane Iredale and it is great. I have green eyes and purchased their shadows for green eyes
. Pricey up front but very worth it. I would spend as much trying out lesser expensive brands.

…check out anything by Lauren Hutton. She understands color and mature skin.
