Why you should never have Botox injected near your lips

My one comment about Botox is this:  Be sure you are very careful about never having Botox injected near your lips.  After a facelift, my surgeon, I think, thought he was doing a post-op ‘cleanup’ with a couple of simpler procedures and, against my will, he used Botox in my upper lip where I had vertical lines.

OMG!  What a mess!  For over a month I couldn’t pucker my lips (NO kissing-ARG!), drooled when I talked (Could this be any more embarrassing as a teacher?), couldn’t drink out of a cup (dribble, dribble), couldn’t smile too well (Why are you upset?), and was just generally miserable.  I don’t know what he was thinking, but I sure gave him a talkin’ to!  Of course, I’m not absolutely sure he knew what I was saying since my words were slurred……

I have some experience with Botox and I completely agree with the poster. I would never recommend it for anywhere around the lips. I found that I spoke strangely, with a slight slurring and my smile was odd too. I also don’t think it works well for the area.

I also had Botox between my eyebrows and that worked better for the most part. I have stopped though, after perhaps five or maybe six sessions because it seemed to me that the topmost bridge of my nose appeared to be a bit wider. I asked my best friend and she said that she couldn’t tell for sure but that it might be. I’m not taking any chances!
