Permanent makeup, also known as micropigmentation, provides a real beauty lift for many aesthetic concerns – no scalpel needed. This procedure brings permanent to semi-permanent coloration to specific facial and body areas, offering an excellent solution to enrich certain features that nature overlooked. Imagine having your thin lips, scanty eyebrows or sparse lashes enhanced without surgical intervention.
Next imagine going to sleep at night and better yet, waking in the morning with the same full lips, beautifully shaped eyebrows or lush lashes that you normally work so hard to achieve through early morning makeup magic. If you are fortunate enough to welcome daybreak with a loving partner by your side, your partner’s admiring eyes will be charmed by your early morning appearance! Come on, let’s be honest. How many of us can boast looking beautiful when first welcoming daybreak?

Here’s another benefit of permanent makeup: You will be able to say goodbye to some of those daily rituals such as eyebrow pencil, eye liner and lip liner application. It’s a time saver too. Once your brows, lashes or lips are professionally enhanced, you suddenly have eked out a few more precious moments from your daily schedule to sip your java while scanning the morning headlines. And best of all, permanent makeup won’t fade away as the day wears on. Because this makeup can’t be washed or wiped away, it is particularly popular with swimmers and those who frequent gyms.
The Micropigmentation Process
A needle is used to inject colored granules under the top few layers of the skin. The process is fairly simple. First a local anesthetic is topically applied or injected into the area where the micro pigment is to be placed. Then tiny “dots” of a natural pigment are carefully placed below the epidermis. These pigments are individually mixed for customized, natural looking results. There is little to no downtime following the procedure, although one should anticipate mild swelling or redness for the first post 24 hours. Allergic reactions or infection are rare but can occur. Because lips are a particularly sensitive area, treated lips might feel somewhat tender for the first several days following treatment.

Micropigmentation Words of Caution
As with any aesthetic enhancement procedure, results will vary according to the skill and experience of the technician. Although often referred to as permanent, it should be noted that treated areas might require future touch-ups, especially in areas exposed to the sun.
The largest concern surrounding micropigmentation is finding a qualified technician. Micropigmentation is currently being performed by dermatologists, cosmetologists, estheticians, nurses, and tattoo artists; but there are no national training requirements in place. Some states have no regulations whatsoever, which means that your procedure could be done by someone with no training or experience.
How do you determine if the technician is qualified? Get recommendations based on the technicians experience, credentials and results. Look for that checklist I included in my last article about paramedical micropigmentation to camouflage scars. hair loss and more.
Have a beautiful life in all respects.
