Clothing choices — too young/too old

I had THE conversation again last night with a friend. The one we all have and I see on here frequently — I can’t find clothes that are age appropriate or clothes that fit. I’ve seen a lot of people post about Chico’s and Coldwater Creek. I’m not a fan of either. I shop mostly at Macy’s and Dillard’s and find that fit is the hardest thing for me. I tried on 12 pairs of black pants last week and not one fit me right. Any suggestions on how to fit a 50-something body — you know what I mean by that!

Yes, part of my problem is short legs and arms. But my new problem is trying to fit my middle and seat. If pants fit nicely in the rear, I have bunchy material in crotch. I think finding a good tailor is also part of my issue. I tried to have some pants altered and it didn’t fix that problem. The waist was taken in, which was good, but I still have all that extra material in front.  I’m not a seamstress so I have no clue.

I’ve found that the spandex content is so helpful, it gives me a little extra room to fit comfortably but doesn’t get baggy looking. And Reitmans is a good place to shop for age appropriate clothes. I found a pair of pants that fit and bought 5 in different colors.
