Some are moles, some are skin tags. Go to a dermatologist and them checked out. Most can be removed at the same appointment.
Skin tags can be removed by rubbing the inside of a banana skin on them daily for about a week… believe it or not.
iam going to try this and also the liquid bandage, anything! Summer is coming and i need to be ready.
I started trying the banana peel today on my neck…….will let you know if there are results.
Yep, mostly skin tags. I think it’s hereditary. My mom has them too. Get them checked out just in case, though. Mine are coming in around my neck and I’ve had one on my eyelid (that one eventually dropped off). I’ve also read that you can take them off applying liquid bandage stuff. The banana idea sounds more economical though. lol. Let us know your success, cause I’m in the markeet for removal myself.
i ate some bananas last nite w/my cereal, but i will not put the peel on to go to bed. So i will try it on the weekend. It seems like a very mild remedy for those stubburn little things. I have even tried rubbing them with my washcloth and lots of soap. I saw these Indian ladies in NY doing the eyebrows with thread and i thought that would be a great idea for these tags. But of course, did not ask them to do it.
I think Ll Deb said you just had to rub the banana peel on them daily, not sleep with them. lol. I’m getting a very funny visual, Lynnette. You with banana peels all over. How did you plan to stick them on? ROFLMAO! Estas LOCA!
i guess you are joking. When you rub the skin with the banana peel, i assumed i had to leave the residue on. So i just rub it and then wash it off. OK, will try it then.
Well I assume you leave the residue. You said ‘I will not put the peel on to go to bed’, so I thought you meant the whole peel. lol. That’s why I was joking.
well, you may know that the people of Hialeah have all the answers. I put the word out and a friend’s mom said … YODO or iodine. When i was little and had a cut my grandmother would put yodo y/o mercurio on it. Both burned like hell. So there is mercurio and there is yodo which was somewhat different, Or maybe i am mistaken, pls ask your husband if he remembers this. Yodo y mercurio and the difference of both. Then a Peruvian guy that came to fix my office’s cabinet, he said compound XX i forgot the number already, sold in any walgreens. Both people have used both methods and after a week the problem should be solved. Hey it beats paying so much money for a dermatologist. I tell you Olga, i need affordable healthcare, it amazes me how you fight this. Eventually the whole system is going to crash. So expensive people cannot go to the doctor.
Yes, the Hialeah folks are well versed in all sorts of cures (just don’t go to a santero). lol. I don’t have to ask my husband–yodo is a cureall. I think his motto is, if it hurts, it works. lol
As for the healthcare Lynnette, I am not fighting affordable healthcare. I don’t believe that what I’ve read is being proposed is going to help. I’m just fighting the method, not the concept. There are what I consider better alternatives out there. Maybe next time the VN ladies discuss healthcare what we should do is examine the pros and cons of all the proposals.
What were the Indian ladies doing in NY with their eyebrows and the thread?
Hi Angel, I get the threading done for full face and neck. It stings a bit, but I found that the hair removal cremes burn my skin. If you keep up with it monthly it makes a big difference. Costs $25.
in so. florida the eyebrows threading costs $8. In CT it cost $10.
ugly and annoying little things. I had some removed about 6 years ago…i paid $100.00 for the removal, just looking at the doctor’s face was $90.
I wonder if the insurance would pay for them if you tell the Dr. they are hurting when your clothes rub on them.
i have been telling you that my insurance is practically non-existent, my employer cannot afford it anymore and gave us a catatrophe insurance… $90 visit and $10.00 per wart. I have at least 20.
Sorry Angel, i thought i was talking to Olga. The Indian ladies were plucking the eyebrows vs. wax or tweezers. It was very interesting. This method of plucking will be in your neighborhood pretty soon. It costs from $8-10 per session
i went with my insurance that is why it cost $190.00, otherwise it would of been $300.
Hi Lynette,
I think they might be skin tags. I have them too and can only find the expensive, burning (called freezing) treatments.
If you can get a dermatologist to say they are a medical necessity, you can get insurance to cover them.
On VN, I read about skin tags and one suggestion worked sort of. Put brown cider vinegar on them, cover w bandaid and leave on. I have way too many for this to work (and you have to do it several times a day) but I did pick a pronounced one and did it and in three days it did fall off.
Maybe they are not skin tags. Ask a dermatologist and then ask around with your friends. They may know a doctor who will get it approved for insurance – or your friends may have some suggestions. Let me know if you find a good idea that does not cost a fortune and/or make you feel like you are being burned over and over again…..
I cut them off myself with cuticle scissor. I boil the scissor first. I gently pull on the skin tag and twist it a bit and snip. I just get a slight burning feeling and it does not even bleed.
I have been doing this for years.
Skin tags are a by product of eating too many carbohydrates.
really? Wow i never thought of that. I sure eat my carbs. Rice and beans are my favorite, add a salad to it, and i am a happy girl. Will have to research it. Actually that is exactly what the dermatologist did, she cut them and charged me $10 a pop. She did ten @ $10.00 do the math, plus $90.00 office visit.
OMG, compound W burns…. hey, if it takes them off, i will try anything.
do not try compound W, i guess you can if your is in a hidden place. It leaves a burned mark and since it does not come out immediately you have to reapply.
What can you say to get the dr to get ins to pay for it? I have seen 2 doctors and both seemed eager just to get the money up front and not deal with the whole insurance thing.
lus, do the doctors get more money if you pay out of your own pocket or if they wait and get insurance money?
the dermatologist i saw told me that it was $10.00 per skin tag and $90 just to see her. i presented my insurance card which is worthless.
The compound W burns them out, but at first you will look like you have chicken pots. It does not hurt, but it looks awful.
I believe it’s considered unsurance fraud if a dr. charges different amounts for the same procedure based on who pays.
Thanks, Olga
I meant if the dr skips insurance altoghether and just get the woman to pay out of her pocket.
Or if the doctor does decide to accept insurance but doesn’t want to. Will he get more money from the woman who pays by herself or more money if he uses the insurance company?
I just wonder….it seems like it could be a big business to me. That’s bc I think they are a medical issue. And if ins companies don’t then they don’t have to pay.
And if the dr decides they are not a medical issue, maybe the dr gets more money by avoiding ins and charging a lot for it privately.
Anyway, I am trying the banana peel every night and will let you know how it works…..thanks for the suggestion…
let me tell u what i did.. these tags are disgusting so i did the compound w and it worked. It burns a little but not so much that you cannot withdstand it. However it leaves a mark while healing so i am using an antiscar cream and cocoa butter and also my cure all petroleum jelly. I forgot that i had a convention this week so i had to wear shirts with collars which i hate. The marks are still visible and had to explain everytime. The latinos from overseas knew about this and some even said… ahh you are burning your little warts? (so upfront aren’t they?) I cleared them all, now let’s see what happens. I tend to heal pretty well, but there is always a first time. But i am ready for spring. Love the off the shoulder blouses, try them. It gives you a youthful look w/o trying to look 18. I learned this from a woman that lives in PR and i met her through facebook. She posted pictures that she took when she went to Spain and her blouses were amazing… all stretched – off the shoulder. She looked great. I thought the blouses were amazing then it dawned on me that she stretches them off the shoulder to get that look… very cleaver! Of course you have to get the stretchable kind. Try a black one w/white pants this summer and see. You will be a knock out.
