Hi, Ad–these transitions are often way more emotionally conflicting than we expect them to be, don’t you agree? I wonder if you’ve considered taking on a considerable commitment with a volunteer organization. There are many organizations which might offer you something you would just love to do. THink about the various interests you have–what do you care about most passionately?–and you should be able to narrow it down. I have done a lot of volunteer work all my life, and at the present my major commitment is to the Red Cross where I work as a volunteer public information officer. It is such a good feeling to be able to feel helpful, and a great opportunity to meet like-minded people. Best wishes to you. Please keep everyone here posted on your progress!
