You are so right. Our young people stay so busy! There are many distraction in today’s world…movies, the computer (which is huge!), cell phones, texting (big groan), the never ending careers, their young friends, their own families, etc., etc., We older folks get lost in the shuffle!
My “kids” live many miles away and I only see them occasionally. I have found that it is important to find sources of our own for activity/fun. I have taken several painting classes, joined book clubs, jewelry making, scrap booking, walking, jogging, yoga…well, there are tons of fun things to do…even alone! If there is a a particular movie (a chic flick) I will go alone to see it! There are a lot of single women there…so you are not alone!
Unfortunately, we cannot depend on our families for “a life”. Ideally, that would be the case, but things have changed and many of us are alone. For many years we worked to raise a family and our lives were crowded with almost too much! How quickly it seems to have changed!
It is our time, now, to pamper ourselves and I hope you can do that. Stay tuned to VN because these ladies are filled with good suggestions and listening ears.
Great advice from Evie. The only thing I can add is that sometimes, if you’re waiting for invitations, it’s much harder to get involved. You may have to offer yourself in ways you’re not used to. Ask to tag along or offer to help in areas that present themselves. You may find that as you’re getting involved with activities, you’ll have more than you’ll have time for. Just start doing things you’ve always said you’d like to do. I wouldn’t wait for them to involve you.
Great suggestion, MG!
I would do that, but my family (all of them) live so far away! (sniff!)
Me too. Let’s have a pity party. Boo hoo hoo hoo. my 19 and 21 year old won’t let me hang out with them. And I have so much fun when I do.
Once a month you can have 1/2 dozen ladies over .For a pot luck SANDWICH lunchon.
