I can just picture this. I was dating a drummer and we went camping. He pitched the tent on an hill facing a lake. When I asked him if he wasn't going to stake the tent he told me that it wasn't necessary. I let him do what he was going to do. Late that night a storm blew in blew us down the hill toward the lake. He decided to jump out and stake the tent while I stayed inside and howled with laughter.

I had been casual friends with a guy, when I was 18, who finally ask me out on an official date. I don’t remember where we went for the actual date but I do remember the ride home. He thought he would show me the local river in the moon light…LOL. He pulled up and parked his jeep very close to the steep embankment that formed the bank of the river. Well, we sat in his jeep (he had taken the top off so we could ‘see the stars’ better) for 10-15 minutes talking about normal everyday things. Then all of a sudden he was diving towards me telling me how beautiful I was and how much he had to have me. I will brag that at that age I was pretty fast thinking and moving. I opened the door on my side (the river side) just as he lunged at me. LOL yes you guessed it…he went out, rolled head over heels down the steep embankment and ended up head first in the river.

After righting himself he shook his head, sat for a few minutes (I was thinking I was going to have to walk home) and then came up the bank. When he got to the top he looked me in the eyes and said “thanks I needed that”. Not another word was said as he drove me home, let me out of the jeep and then drove off into the night. I saw him off & on for the rest of the semester when we would be with our group of friends but neither one of us chose to say another thing about that night.

I was 21 and living in Albany NY at the time. My cousin's best friend (another guy) set me up on a blind date. When he came to the door he was a typical blind date alright. He wore nerdy glasses, was short, hair straight and slicked to the side and had a scowl on his face. But I decided to honor the date and go. First we went bowling and he yelled at me all the time telling me how bad I was to the point of laughing at me. A couple of professional bowlers with a tv crew were on a nearby lane. I noticed one of them, (a very cute guy with Paul Newman eyes) watching us. When they took a break he came over and asked my date if he could give me some pointers. Well I was happy about that, wow.

At one point he had his arm around me showing me how to swing, my date got very jealous and packed up saying we were leaving. I thought he would then take me home but he asked if I wanted to go to a house party so I said okay. When we got there my cousin's friend was there with his date and he was with another guy who was a really tall (and cute) basketball player. The tall guy started talking to me and we got in a conversation and of course everyone at the party had been drinking. My date got jealous all over again and started a fight with this tall guy. Soon there were others got involved about five guys were all fighting but the tall guy had dodged outside.

My cousin's friend sensed trouble and he said he was getting out of there and for me to come with him. So he and his date and me and the basketball player left. As we drove away I looked out the back window and saw a cop car with the lights flashing.

On the way home the tall guy and I got acquainted in the back seat. We dated a bit later but it didn't last. When I got home I told my cousin all that had happend and she said, "I am going out with you next time." I had left my gloves in the blind date guy's car and he called me in a few days and cursed me out on the phone and said I would never see my gloves again. What a jerk! I told him that since they were in his car I never wanted to see them again or him either. Ha ha and I hung up on him. Never heard from him again.

I had a boy who had noticed me come to my home to ask me out on a date when I was 15, but I wasn't home at the time, so he spent some time talking with my parents. When I got home, I was told of his visit and that he wanted to date me. I had only seen him once and didn't think he was very 'cool' and I assumed my parents would say 'no' as I wasn't supposed to be allowed to date until I was 16. So when I said "you told him no, right" I was surprised to find that they had liked him and agreed I could go out with him. I did - mostly because dating - or going anywhere - was a novelty for me. He did end up being my first husband, who I married when I was 17. ♥

I was almost 18 and the cousin of my best friend's boyfriend was visiting. I didn't know the guy but my friend said her boyfriend said he was real funny so I agreed to go out with him. He picked me up and he was wearing an eye patch and had a white cane and announced "hey there, I'm your blind date" hahaha (No he wasn't blind!). We went to a movie where he made a couple of jokes about the movie ,real loud.... then on to a coffee house where he pretended to trip over his feet and fall and said to the waitress "There was a banana peel, where is it?" then he proceeded to tell jokes, one corny one after the other and he thought they were funny because he laughed and laughed. I wanted to crawl into a hole! I was unavailable for the rest of his visit LOL

I was 19 and had just broken up with my boyfriend...One of my many Aunts thought it was a perfect time to fix me up with her husband's nephew. When he came to the door, he was a younger version of my Uncle which really freaked me out. He drove up in a Corvette which he talked about all through dinner and spent the rest of the time bragging about his expensive condo and how his future wife would have everything!!Halfway through the dinner, I developed a raging headache...I had him take me home and left him in the living room talking to my Mother for the next two hours. When he left , my Mother came in my bedroom smiling, "What a nice boy!" she said. "You think you'll go out with him again?"
