Hi, I’m from Cornwall, On…just joined

I was born and raised in Cornwall….went to CCVS in the early 70′s

Hi Sandy Anne, I was in the west end , completed Grade 13 1971 at General Vanier then graduated from Nursing school in 1973.I used to walk past CCVS all the time to go to the YMCA on 5th street. Are you still in Cornwall?
No I went to college in Oakville, then got a job in Welland……worked as a recreation therapist for the Municipal Homes for the Aged. Got married, divorced…now live in Newmarket. My parents died 1o yrs ago so I have not been back to Cornwall.
Hi Sandy Anne, sorry to hear about your parents passing. They must have been quite young. Newmarket ,is a nice place, dropped by once.Something to do with figure skating that my oldest son was into back in the late 1990′s. I am divorced as well, have the “whole nest to myself” as “Judge Judy” put it once. One son in North Vancouver , now at Vancouver Community College and the other one in Toronto working( ie. eeking out a living) in Stereographics Computers and films.I work in Community Care assessments now, driving to Brockville, Perth etc.
HI SANDY ANNE:
I LIVE IN MY HOME TOWN OF SPRINGHILL, N.S. AFTER HIGH SCHOOL I WENT TO ONTARIO IN 1965. LIVED IN NEWMARKET , WHICH IS MY SON’S HOME TOWN. I STILL KEEP IN CONTACT WITH MY CLOSE FRIENDS THERE, ONE OF WHOM IS STILL IN NEWMARKET, THE OTHER TWO LADIES ARE IN RICHMOND HILL, AND ORILLIA. I WAS UP TO VISIT THEM AFTER NEARLY TWENTY PLUS YEARS AND SO GOOD TO SEE THEM. I COULDN’T GET OVER HOW BIG NEWMARKET HAS GROWN, BUT IT WAS SO NICE TO BE THERE AS I HAD SPENT ALL OF 18 YEARS LIVING THERE. I WORKED AT THE YORK REGIONAL POLICE DEPT IN COMMUNICATIONS , I SAW THAT THEIR HEADQUARTERS HAD MOVED BUT THE OLD BUILDING IS STILL ON PROSPECT STREET.

Hi DianeDe,
I am in old Port near Martindale Pond. I, too, am taking lots of photos! I just bought a Nikon P90 and am still figuring it out. I love taking pics of the frogs, toads and turtles on our up north property. Kayaking is one of my hubby’s and my favourite ways to pass the time.
Hi Kayaking, that’s cool. I bought myself an Nikon D90 also….awesome camera….stilling figure it out but fun doing it. I know where Marindale is but not sure of Marindale Pond? Happy camera shooting.
hi, I am from North Bay, ON… where is your northern property. yes.. for sure kayaking in Northern ON is the best!

I don’t thnk so. It’s been a long time. I’m 58 & left Alberta when I was 2. Some of my famiy moved to BC. I’m left all alone & things are getting pretty scary here in MASS. I’ve heard a lot of fine things about BC. I’ve always felt as a East Coast girl. I’m kinda scared to make the move but pretty soon I might have to do something & @ my age I think I would rather be around somone known as family! How old are you? Why do you like there?
XO
Hi Lorraine… I live in Vernon BC… just a bit north of Peachland and Penticton… Love this Okanagan Valley…also known as ‘Paradise’ We have it all …. fabulous skiing already … (I’ve been cross-country skiing for the past month), hiking, golfing, wonderful lakes for swimming, boating.. fishing… whatever.. great cultural opportunities of all types.. concerts, live theatre… the best junior hockey team in the country !!!! and an easy 5 hour drive to Vancouver… if we need a big city fix…. an international airport only 20 minutes away…. I’m 63 and single and the only question I have is…. which activity will I choose today ???? can’t possibly do it all…. WOW… Have I sold you on Vernon yet ????? Christine.
Yes! Thank you! I’m in the middle of a very corrupt legal case with my Mother’s nursing home. She is in hospice & they won’t let me see her even though the court said I should! They are making me go broke & homeless. G-d I wish I could reach the Queen & say don’t let the U.S. which is not the U.S. I grew up in due this to two daughters of Canada! I wonder how Canada would treat me if I deceided to come back home after they make me go broke & homeless?
XO
Hi Okanagon! I`m from Chase, moved to Salmon Arm for high school. Have lots of family still there.
Hi Blue… Where are you living now ?? Isn’t this an awesome website !!!!!
Great site. I’m in Prince George.
Great site. I’m in Prince George.
Hi Butterflylady,
How long have you lived in Victoria. I moved to Sooke 10 years ago after living in Victoria. I am spoiled since I now can go out on the water in my kayak during the warmer days, something I couldn’t easily do in Victoria. Are you working, I am hoping to retire one of these days…….
I grew up in Victoria and graduated from Mt View! LOL!
Montreal, just joined on
Hi!! I am from Montreal too!! Great to see you on this site!!! Maybe we can get to know each other a bit more!!
Sounds like a plan, why not. How long have you been on vibrant nation?
Just moved from Ontario to New Brunswick. Culture shock!
Greetings fellow Canadians! lol@ that Twinkling – about being bookends. And I hear you about the culture shock even though it’s been many years since I moved to NS from Ontario. One of my first memories was walking home from school with a newly made friend (we were in Grade 5). Her dad worked on the ferry between North Sydney and Port Aux Basques Nfld – her mom…well she had babies…15 in all! (not a word of a lie). And when she took me to her house there were these weird looking white things hanging on the clothesline. Being the new kid and a bit shy around my new friend I didn’t ask what it was right away…but the next time I saw them I just couldn’t help but ask. Turns out – it was cod fish….drying. *falls over laughing* So how’s that for culture shock? LOL! I’d never even seen the ocean in my life – nor a real cod fish. Love it!
You are making me homesick!!!
Hi, I’m from Sault Ste. Marie Ontario. I’m glad that there are a few Canadian here.
Hello all, Nice to hear from other fellow Canadians. I am living on Vancouver Island,.. in Courtenay (Comox Vallery); However I grew up on a farm in Southern Saskatchewan, then spend close to 30 yrs in Calgary, AB before moving to the island in 2005. Looks like this site has some valualbe infor regarding aging…..I’m struggling……a young mind, in an aging body
Hello from Victoria……. I hope you love the Island as much as I do. I’ve been here since 1963 and wouldn’t move for the world. However being stranded on an island gets to me once in awhile. Glad I didn’t have any plans for the Thanksgiving weekend! What a mess! I know what you mean about a young mind and aging body! What happened to my slim self and all my energy?
)
Hi rainbow 1956 I’m just across the water in Powell River, BC moved here in 06 from Grande Prairie, Ab and from Hazelton BC and from Smithers BC. enjoying the warmer climate but am suffering with my allergies to the trees, shrubs and vegatation here. I’m an internet marketer now but was a small business owner up north and in the logging industry. Love to garden, sew, and I love the internet marketing potential! WE must get together
Hi Loraden, Looking for information on BC! From Alberta. Just made a long post to someone about a 1/2 hr ago. See if you can find it! May need to relocate from MASS! Have realatives in BC, MOGUS! Lorraine
hi lorraine
i was born and lived in blairmore untill i was 23. i have a huge family in that area. i live in the okanagan now
Hi Sher,
What is Blairmore like? I wish I could get something in print on it? Do you know where I can write to find out what time I was born? Where in Blairmore? I still have relatives in Stettler & Moose Jaw. Haven’t communicated with them though in a while. My Dad was the one who would write letters & get the phone calls. I also have family in British Columbia. I would like to learn about that area to. Good to hear from you!
XO
Hi Lorraine
Blairmore…. it has not grown much over the years.the mines do not operate so close to town now so it is much cleaner. it has become a cottage community for Calgarians to escape to on the weekends. it is still very natural, clean rivers etc. the newspaper is the Pass Promoter. They are probably your best bet for history. Or my mother ..she has lived there for 60 years..I have a huge family living there. 10 brothers and sisters and countless nieces and nephews. My mother was probably having a baby or at least had a baby when you were born. She would know how to get the information. I live in Penticton, British columbia now for about 8 years. Did your father live/work in Blairmore? Mine worked for the mines and was active in the unions.. preseident and such..he knew all the guys. if you went to school there you would have been with a member of my family .. we had one in every grade.lol good luck with your search.. keep me poted please..
cheers
Sher
My Dad worked somewhere where there was Lyme! He also worked @ Niagra Falls. He was in the Canadian Forces watching the German Prisoners of war in NewFoundland where he met & married my Mother! My Grandmother remarried into the Kromn family. I’ve heard a lot of discussion about Red Willow. In a huge corrupt legal battle with my Mother’s nursing home. They are trying to make me go broke & homeless! Not the USA my parents came to! I remember them telling my brothers & I when I was 16 & we became Naturalized Citizens that if we couldn’t make it here in the “Great USA” before we go on welfare to go “HOME!” I wish I could click these dusty old “Rubby Slipper!” & be where you are today! I also have relatives in British Columbia! Don’t know what will happen. On my knees praying for the best!
XO

Lorraine,
I just read your bio. I don’t know why I went and read it; however, my heart goes out to you. I do hope others will read it as well and maybe someone out there may be able to help, with your mother’s situation: maybe your bio should have been a post instead. I wish I was in a position to help you. My, my, dear lady, you have been through a lot with illiness in your family and your own heart ache.
Hi Josephine,
I’m praying that someone who has the power to help finds it! I guess you can say I’m looking for a miracle! Thank G-d I believe in miracles! I wish someone would tell the Quenn that someone is beating up on two of her Daughters & she would come over here & wave her magic wand & take us back home!
XO

Hope u enjoy it there. Carolyn
Good morning! I am a Canadian.
I suppose I should have been more enlightening. I live in Fergus, Ontario, which is not so far from some of you gals.
I love FERGUS! Last October my husband John and I went up for the day for our Anniversary, and found a lovely Scottish Resteraunt to have our late Lunch early Dinner for our special day. It was a beautiful Fall Day, Judie, and we took a lot of pictures. We have lived most of our lives in and around London, Ontario.
Yes, Fergus is a nice little community. We moved here 11 years ago. I also like London, although I must admit that I do not get out that way often. It is so different from Fergus and change is good, right? Did you take some pics downtown near the water? It is so pretty there.
Hi fellow Canadians! I’m from Manitoba,(seem to be the only one so far) would love to move to Vancouver Island. My grandparents lived there and I visited a few times and loved it. Unfortunately, I’ll be staying here as my husband loves winter and I have all my children and grandchildren here as well. I’m new to this site as well and just getting around it. Enjoying it so far!
Hello Kim: what part of Manitoba? I lived in the Westman region 1976-2003. I miss the Mb sunshine & long summer evenings. I usually make a trip back there in the fall each year to visit friends(I miss them a lot)Spent many hours in a lot of hockey & curling rinks thru the years….good prairie fun!
What province?
Ontario; Fergus is just north of Guelph, and if that is not familiar to you, it is about an hours drive west of Toronto.

Hi
Proud Canadian from London Ontario. I just join too. Nice to meet all the other ladies. This seems like a fun and informative site.
I also live in London, Ontario Mina : Born and raised in Lancashire, England but lived most of my life in and around London. Maybe we could get together for coffee at a Coffee Pub sometime? I am a “young” 63 and love to meet new people. I am new to vibrant nation and am finding it very interesting and informative.
Hi I did write back so we could have coffee some where but there are so many responses on this page that I have had trouble getting back in and likely you have too. I will try and write a new page for you to find.
My “just getting to know you” friend just remarried and moved to “Courtney”. Found this site on facebook yesterday and thought it looked like a good idea. Lived in Maple Bay and Nanaimo when raising my boys, now living in Coquitlam BC. My sister in law is retired and living on a sailboat in the Baja, they just had a few panic days with Hurrican Rick looming in the skies, made me glad I live a quieter life. Nice to see all us Canadians popping up, also interesting to hear what our neighbours to the south are thinking and doing. Look forward to some interesting times on this site.
Hi everyone who popped in since my last post. Nice to "meet" you all!

Hi Patricia : I live on the South West side of London, Ontario. We will be moving though at the end of February to the downtown area. We have moved so many times during our life in Canada but have never lived ‘downtown anywhere!” I think it is going to be a great and new adventure as my husband is finally coming to the down stretch and will be retired in about a year. If you would like to get together for a cup of coffe at one of London’s great Coffee Pubs I would love to meet you. I love getting to know new people. I am a young 63 and love to go out for coffee with friends and neighbors.
Hello Fellow Canadians: My name is Cindy and I am from Newmarket, Ontario which is a 1/2 hr drive north of Toronto, Ontario. What a great site and ditto what Pamela said.
