Hi, Anonymous: I have been alone for 8 years after a 31 year marriage of abuse. I know how awful that alone feeling is. We can talk anytime you like. It used to be on here, that you could private message someone but I don’t think you/we can do that anymore.
Today is my 66th (Sept. 29th) birthday…….alone
Love and Hugs, Alicia
I’m sorry you are struggling with being alone, I know how bad it can be.
I struggle with feeling alone even in a crowd, it’s an ache of the heart and a panic combined.
All I can suggest is to literally flip it around. Try to discover the benefits of being ”on your own”.
I was single until I was 39, I’ve been married for 15 years. (39+15=54) Honestly I am sufficating, I want my independence back.
I can suggest stepping outside your comfort zone to try to find groups that shave simular interests as you. Believe in yourself, you aren’t alone, there are women just like you out there looking for others to share their time with.
(dining out, movies, etc.. some communities offer seniors bus trips to local attractions or events)
I know how hard it is, one step at a time. Google what’s out there, then one day when you feel strong enough, go check it out.
Another thing that I have learned lately is how much a pet fills the emptiness. I could have saved myself a great deal of heartache if I had realized a pet is a constant loving companion. I understand lving conditions create barriers, if not a dog or cat, consider a fish or maybe a bird.
I found volunteering at the local Human Society was flexible.
I was secluded for too long (5 years) I started by going to a local womens help group meeting, just to get out of the house. That was 2 years ago. I still go when I can, just to be a part of something.
Remember, baby steps. If you just take one step a month, it is still moving forward to something better.
You aren’t alone….
