Anybody else shamelessly borrow their daughters' style?

I have to be careful I don't go to copy cat with my 25-year-old.  It's one thing to be "influenced" or "inspired"...it's another to go out and (subconsciously!) purchase the very same sweater or scarf!  Ouch!

In "Steal This Style: Moms and Daughters Swap Wardrobe Secrets"I show looks that are similar or inspired by--but never "bio-identical"!. Besides the actual items to be possibly shared--there is the "look" that can be reinterpreted appropriately as well as creative ideas such as working with color. And even within mother-daughter relationships a woman likes to have her originality credited--few women enjoy being copied exactly(never mind that saying "it's the sincerest form of flattery!).

Hi Carol,

It’s perfectly okay to wear styles similar to your daughter, provided they are appropriate for your figure. Wearing a garment in a style or color that is similar to your daughter is actually a fun thing, but wearing the identical garment may be “too cute.”  You are right, being influenced by your daughter is perfectly okay – it will keep you young looking. However, it is possible that your daughter may like to be “unique” when it comes to her appearance. Most women do!
