Just read teh book Born to Run, about how running shoes can actually be bad for your feet. I loved it! Anybody else tried running with those funny looking toe sock shoes?
The girl I run with (certified p/trainer) swears that shoe companies feed us that we need to change our shoes every 500 klms I think, she said we don't. She has done numerous marathons etc.... not sure but I only run twice a week and only 6 - 7 k so not sure! She has those toe shoes and will be trying them once the snow goes! Will let you know what she thinks.
HI Ya ya,
Yes, that is what this book says too... it is all so interesting! I love to run, but now that I'm over 40 it feels hard on my body. According to the book, most runners peak in their 60's, if they run barefoot. There is hope for me yet!
I am 58 and started running again about 3 months ago, and I am actually enjoying it this time, this time I did it the right way, and am running with girls who are at the same level, once the snow goes and we are back on the trail it will be even more enjoyable, right now we are on the roads, not good for my achilles.... will let you know if in 2 years I am still having fun!
