Why are Republicans better at affairs than Democrats?

I think extramarital affairs are wrong, period (any politician who has one deserves what he or she gets), but I did chuckle when I read this by Gail Sheehy:

Why Republicans Are Better at Affairs:  "Republicans tend to sleep with their own kind, while Democrats sleep beneath themselves. And those women can be counted on to sell their stories." 

Gail's blog post is smart and thoughtful about power and narcissicism among our politicians - worth a read.

Lots of people have affairs, women for different reasons than men, I believe.  I think most men, if sex is offered and they think they can get away with it, they will.  It's all about the orgasm for them. They are horny little beasties.  It is my belief that women have affairs because something is missing from their lives.  But I have not researched this.

As for affairs being wrong - anything that hurts another person can be deemed as wrong. Life is about choice, and some choose to have a variety of experiences including extra-marital affairs.

When Monica had an affair with Bill, the democrat, it was Linda, a republican, who pretended to be Monica's friend.  She got details and shared them with the media.  I don't want to offend anyone here who's party affiliation is different from mine.  So I will leave it at that for now.

Once upon a time I was very unhappily married.  My brother had killed his neighbors, people my family knew.  It launched my religious family into horror.  My husband at the time forbid me to tell his wealthy family.  He turned his back on me when I was completely broken.  I had to help my parents through the trial, through all of it.  They were more broken than I was.  I fought having an affair with an interested guy for 3 years.  I didn't have the courage or the finances to just get out of the marriage.  So I eventually I gave in and had the affair - a pressure release.  It was never really about the sex, although there was sex.  The guy became the friend I wanted my husband to be.  I finally found my courage, made plans, got my finances in order and divorced my husband.  I also ended the affair.  The guy was married too.

Was my affair wrong?  In the eyes of most people, yes.  But those same people would not have been their for me when I was broken.  Eventually I married a wonderful guy and would never fool around on him.  At this point in my life, if my husband became I jerk, I still would not have an affair, I'd get a dog.  Seriously.  But at this point in my life I'm 27 years older than I was then.  I'm more confident.  I know my own value.  I like myself now.  Aging can be wonderful for things like self esteem.  It has been for me.
