I wear Lolita Lempicka and Flowerbomb. I also like to wear Hiris (Hermes).
What's your go to scent?
responses (166)
ooh, I l wear Coco Mademoiselle sometimes, too, but 24, Faubourg just sort of sits there on my dresser--it's not that great on me, but I'm glad you can wear it. Is L'eau d'Ambre soft?
Yes it's soft, but more Oriental than floral.
I keep my perfumes in the refrigerator, do you?
Why? What good does it do?
It holds the fragrance and won't break it down.....plus the perfume/cologne won't evaporate over time. And I think its nice to spritz yourself with a cool mist of perfume/cologne, especially in the summer time.....
Great idea. Did that come to you in a flash? haha. Just kidding. That is why I will refridgerate moving forward. Thanks for the idea.
I have kept some body creams and perfume in the fridge. It keeps the original scent fresh longer.
I really love White Diamonds and Pleasures -- but a new fragrance I got for Christmas is Happy by Clinique -- every one of my friends say my 'body chemistry' mixes well with all perfumes that I have used. I do keep them in the refrigerator -- my hubby always teases me but it keeps the fragrance longer and also the perfume does not evaporate over time.
My perfume is always in the refrigerator just because I love that cool spray on me after the shower. My perfume is Paloma Picasso for over 40 years. I can’t tell you over the years how many strangers stopped me and asked for the name of the perfume I wear. I believe when we find the right perfume what fits to our body and personality… that is for life time.
That's what used to happen to me when I wore "Persian Wood" by AVON. Sadly they don't make it any longer and I miss it. I got more compliments on that one perfume, than in all the others I wore. Another one was Prince Machabelli's 'Beloved'. Both gone. To this day I haven't found one that I like as much as those two.
Why do you do this? Does it preserve the scent?
yes I do,it extends the life and a cool spritz is refreshing!
I am a Michael Kors devotee all the way!
I love Michael Kors! It's my most favorite.
Interesting how fragrance choices change through the decades of my life:
Teen and college- Lauren by Ralph Lauren and Obsession and musk of course briefly very briefly
30's & 40's--Cocoa by Channel, Eternity, and Magi Noir
50's - the lighter the fragrance the better; guess that's why i love Michael Kors...crisp and clean; also Philosophy Grace.
I get compliments when I wear White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor. I use the body lotion and powder too. It makes the scent last longer. When I was a teen I wore Avon's Sweet Honesty. I received a pretty bottle of Vera Wang's Princess at Christmas, but I haven't tried it yet. Ususally, no matter what scent I try I never get as many compliments as I do wearing White Diamonds perfume.

Juicy Couture... Very nice light scent!
I agree....Juicy is a great scent!
BEEN WEARING "SECRET DE VENUS" 1928 FOR MORE THAN 40 YEARS, AND IT IS A COLLECTORS DREAM. THE HOUSE OF WEIL PARIS STOP MAKING IT ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO I BELIEVE. BEFORE I KNEW THEY STOP PRODUCING IT I PURCHASE A NICE AMOUNT. TODAY I HAVE A BOTTLE UNOPEN IN MY REFIG. WORTH GIVE OR TAKE WHAT SOMEONE MIGHT PAY FOR 2OZ. $1,800-$2,000 DOLLARS. I WILL NOT SELL IT, I KNOW NO ONE SMELLS LIKE ME! SOMETIMES I WEAR OPIUM, CIARA , YOUTH DEW AND OTHERS HEAVY SEXUAL SCENTS. IN THE SUMMER DESTINY.
I'm with you, TRACK, I love the heavy sexy fragrances. I used to love Opium and Ciara. Don't laugh, but my first perfume was Tabu and that hooked me on the stronger scents.
I wish I could smell "Secret de Venus." Like you, I want to be the one in the room with the unique fragrance. When a man gets close enough to ask "what are you wearing?" I say "Nothing."
I love perfume and I love having a fragrance that people want to know what it is! We have a store in our little town where you go in and for about $90 you can make your own perfume. It takes about 2 hours and you sniff & sniff in 'layers' and when you are finished, you have your very own personal perfume. They also will make you body lotion and bath products with your personal formula.
well i am really intersted to know more about this store you have mention i will love to make my own personal fragance . i live in san diego, calif. do you know anybody around this area? my e-mail is rosedurcal@yahoo.com thankyou.l
sorry miss storytaker but i am probably clicking somewhere else i cant read your messeges that you have send me. please e-mail me at rosedurcal@yahoo.com love to hear from you, lots of blessings.
What's the name of this store and where is it located?
Tabu for me too.....the pink spray bottle...I remember.....
I love Opium, but my favorite was Ultima II by Revson, sadly, no longer made.
I wore Secret De Venus for years as did my mother and my best friend (I think she has a little bit left in one small bottle of the oil!) Several years ago I was in this perfume store in Las Vegas where I could get Secret De Venus and that is how I found out they were going to stop making the perfume and right before I got there - Diana Ross purchased every bottle in the store. So you are in good company - and I am so jealous! A full bottle! Don't you just feel like a million bucks when you dab it on....
I can not wear floral scents as they do not agree with my sense of smell so I love Obession by Calvin Klein and wear it all the time and have done for many years. I really hope they never stop making it I would be totally lost!!
I love floral scents. Most fragrances by Escada.
I wear Escada on special nights when my husband takes me out on the town.
What an interesting topic!! I love perfume; it's one of my favorite things. A couple of years ago I discovered Jil Sander No. 4. It's wonderful, but very hard to find, unfortunately. Never heard of keeping scents in the fridge. Will start doing so since I hoard the JS No. 4 when I find it. I use it in the summer, mostly. Like others responding here, Opium was my favorite for many, many years. The "Secret de Venus" 1928 sounds intriguing. I wish companies would continue making great perfumes like that.
Goodness I feel so plain. I wore Sweet Honesty by Avon and Love's Baby Soft in my teens. My twenties & thirthies I wore Frankincense & Myrrh by Jovan ( use to stock up because they only sold it during the holiday season) , a Lilac scent, and a Sweet Pea scent ( don't remember who made either). My forties & fifties I moved to Estee's Beautiful & Estee.
Mind you I still love Frankincense & Myrrh but these days I get it from Israel.
My go to fragrance is Pleasures from Estee Lauder. I have many though and most of them floral. There is one I recently got at the Body Shop called Black Amethyst that is heavier and has a wonderful fragrance. I like trying new ones all the time.
My favourite scent is L'Air du Temps by Nina Ricci. It's sweet, sensual and lovely and very, very feminine. I hate musky perfumes. I've had nothing but compliments on this scent and people who hug me tell me I smell lovely. I've been wearing it since I was 16, almost every day.
PS - I get more "mileage" out of the scented skin cream than the actual perfume - just a tip for anyone else who wears L'air Du Temps.
I use to wear Vera Wang's Sheer, but I found a fragance by Avon that I really love. It's called Rare Gold. I get compliments everytime I wear it. I hope that Avon keeps selling this product for a long time.
Granny, I wore this scent all through high school and college. It reminds me of being at UCLA on a beautiful sunny day.
Then I discovered Diorama and Ma Griffe, but never quite gave up on L'Air du Temps.
I have worn Tresor, by Lancome for many years, they (for a couple of years) have had a lighter version or it also, usually go owith the lighter one in summer. But it is wonderful on me, lots of compliments. Also, I have found one new scent that I also love to wear, and it is from Avon. They have a series of 3, called Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. (all a different) and the scent called TODAY is wonderful. Get lots of compliments on that one also, light and it stays with me most of the day!
I liked Tomorrow in that line, but I found it simply doesn't last on me, four hours after use the scent is gone, and I have to reapply, I go thru that stuff too fast, so i stopped using it.
Wow, I can't imagine life without perfume (or a sexy cologne for my man)! My current favorites are two from Bath & Body Works - P.S. I Love You and Black Amethyst. With these, you can really do the layering thing (body butter, body spray, cologne). P.S. I Love You is sweet and fruity and not too heavy, which is perfect for me because I work in healthcare and can't wear heavy scents. Black Amethyst is spicy-fruity, a little better for cold weather. Another favorite is Zen by Shiseido, another spicy scent.
The one I keep in the refrigerator is Nuit de Noel by Caron. (Nuit de Noel means Christmas Night in French.) I only wear this one at Christmas, and there's a story behind it. When I was a little girl, this was my mom's favorite perfume, and every time I smell it I think of her (she died in 1984). After mom's death, I looked everywhere for this perfume, and was told it could only be found in Europe. Then, a few years ago, my husband found it online and ordered it for me for a Christmas present! Thus, it's so precious to me in so many ways, I keep it in the 'fridge so it will last as long as possible!
I love your story about Nuit de Noel. My mother wore it, too. It's so touching that you have some and keep it so carefully.
We sure have a lot in common, SeaWriter. Wish I could afford a trip to Seattle so we could meet! Yes, I take great care with my Nuit de Noel. It's not really my favorite scent, but I wear it to honor my mom, who died way too soon.
I too am a perfume lover. As a young girl I remember the smell of Jungle Gardinia that had been sprayed by my mother and inhaleing deeply. I am an everyday perfume user. This last year I have been wearing J. Del Pozo in Black for fall and winter and Juicy Couture for spring and summer....ahhhhhh..I totally wear it for my pleasure!
OMG! Jungle Gardinia brings back memories of my childhood----->eyes closed thinking of mommy :)
FOR ALL WHO ARE INTERESTED, GOOGLE "SECRET DE VENUS-HOUSE OF WEIL, PARIS HISTORY" AND CHECK FIRST TWO (2) ENTRIES. SOMEONE IN GERMANY IS SELLING 0.17ML FOR 117.00+SHIPPING. MAKE SURE IT'S THE ORIGINAL, DARK BROWN COLOR, FIG.8 GLASS BOTTLE, GOLD BAND AROUND THE MIDDLE. GOLD CAP. OIL. THEY MAKE ANOTHER AND CALLED IT BY THE ORIGINAL NAMES, NOT THE SAME.
Prefer having a signature scent, so that when people smell it--hopefully not overwhelmingly so--they will associate the perfume with me. In my early 20's, I became a Chanel woman--#5 for Autumn and Winter; Cristalle for Spring and Summer.
After living with a grandmother who used to bathe in White Shoulders, I make a conscious effort to spray on lightly. I don't have allergies or problems with pollen, but the cloying smell of perfume worn too strongly is enough to make me nauseous.
Learned this neat trick: When spraying on perfume you want to last the entire day, put the heaviest amount behind your knees, a lighter amount between your breasts, and a passing daub on your neck. The aroma will waft up and not be so heavy. However, when you are going out at night, do the exact opposite. Evidently, there's some body chemical that changes in the evening. Go figure.
Thanks for the tip about the fridge; never knew about that!
I became a Chanel #5 woman for the first time in 1963, I still wear it today. My Son gives it to me every event, He says he knows that is something I will use! How thoughtful. I haven't figured why keep in the refrigerator? Keeps longer? I missed that part
They seem to keep better stored in a dark, cold place like the refrigerator.
Thank you, Yakkity, I will give it a try!
J'Adore, bought it on a cruise ship and everytime I wear it I think of the fun I had with my kids....Giorgio is kind of my every day fragrance, I have just tried Halle by Halle Berry, which is kind of spicy, and I think I read someone else uses Zen, probably one of my all time favorites. I love Fendi also, but can't always find it where I live....also, Very Sexy for Her from Victorias Secret....well after listing all these, I guess I don't have a signature scent, just what I am in the mood for.
Coco Mademoiselle
I have been wearing Oscarn De La Renta for over 25 years. It's my signature and only scent. Once in a blue moon I try something else. I don't have the patience and/or desire to try all kinds of different ones. Those strips that come in magazines all smell like Raid to me. However one recently smelled divine....Couture, Couture. Don't know if I'll give it a shot or not.
My sister also has worn Oscar forever and I think of her whenever I smell that. I now work at Bath& body Works and have given her a few scents to try, but she will always go back to Oscar. I love many of Liz Claiborn's scents, especially Reality's Sweet Desire, so soft smelling. I get complimants all the time on it.
I too have been a several decade user of Oscar De La Renta. I adore the body cream -- it has really great lasting power in moisturization and scent. I've received many, many other fragrances as gifts, but this is the one I buy for myself and the one for which I receive the most compliments.
Oh! how we love perfume. I wore Je Reviens by house of Worth Paris for years but the company was sold and there have been many imitators but they just dont quite get the original scent. I now wear Burberry's of London but lately I was thinking it has lost its scent. Thanks for the tip on keeping it in the refridgerator, I am going to start doing that.
Your nose remembers familiar scents and doesn't react to them as readily as a new scent.
Many people fall into the habit of putting on more perfume because they figure if they cannot smell it, neither can anyone else; not true. Your nose gets used to scents that are familiar. That's why your house doesn't "smell," but if someone else comes to your house, they notice the difference.
That brings up a good point. As I've grown older, I've found I don't react well to most colognes and perfumes - they can give me a migraine. I've stopped wearing scents for the most part and have difficulties in close situations when someone wears a scent I react badly to. It was difficult to sit in church near someone wearing a scent - and if that someone is a hugger during "greeting time" - yikes! Our office had a "no scent" policy due to several of us who had problems, but a new boss came in and that went out the window. So did I - I quit and started my own business.
This is so true, especially as we age. This might explain why elderly women often seem to wear too much scent: their sense of smell has decreased over the years.
I figure if I apply my scent in the morning, unless I'm going out in the evening I don't add more during the day, no matter which one I'm wearing. You're right--you do become accustomed to your own and it's easy to overdo it.
Good point you make here.
I love this perfume. Sometimes you can still find it in the Vermont Country Store catalogue.
My two favorites are Eternity and Jessica Mc Clintock. I get many many compliments on those two, but especially the Jessica McClintock. Its a flowery scent. I feel naked without perfume !!
Intuition.. the only one i wear.. lightly musky and makes my hubby crazy! :-) Altho some day I would love to try L'air du temps-- someone walked by me wearing it and I had to follow her and find out WHAT was that heavenly scent??!!!
Cashmere by DKNY and Tresor by Lancome.
I like Cashmere Mist, too. I use the bath gel and body creme. It's such a warm scent, don't you think?
I do. Sometimes I just wear the lotion for a very soft scent. I can't wear heavy scents (give me a headache) so that's why I lean toward softer ones like Cashmere. It really is so pretty.
I have worn Lauren by Ralph Lauren for 30 years and consider it my signature scent. Lately I've added Romance by Ralph Lauren for "special" occasions. What bugs me is they've stopped making any of the scented body cream in Lauren, and as a previous poster noted, the cream is what really lasts the longest.
I'd love to hear what other folks like on their men! We are currently trying to find mine a new scent to replace the Canoe he's worn for WAY too long (I never liked it!)!
I love, love, love Aramis on men.....yummmm...very sophiscated....your comment on "Canoe" rushed me back to the 60's -- I wore "Ambush" then, didn't know what I thought it was going to do but felt oh so special wearing it...-- just don't let him pick Hai Karate....or patchouli...ha
My first husband always wore Aramis. You are right it is yummmm. My boyfriend wears Hugo I adore the smell. Very very HOT!
GREY FANNEL
Aramis is always good, as is Red for Men.
Well, I think we've finally found something my man and I both like for him - Euphoria for Men by Calvin Klein. I gave it to him for his birthday yesterday, and so far, so good! Sure beats that Canoe....
I used to wear Chanel #5, then moved on to a wonderful scent I haven't seen in YEARS called "Michele" (it came in a rainbow-layered bottle from Foley's). For the past several years, my main scent is "Rapture" from Victoria's Secret. Perfume is the only thing that fits me from there, but it sure is a match! I get compliments every time I am out and about, and spray it on at home just for the lift sometimes.
Obsession, Bijan, Tabu (it smells great on me!) and almost any of the vanilla-based perfumes! Some years ago, Calvin Klein came out with a small black box with a sliding clear lid on it that contained four or five roll-on bottles of oils, Obsession included. I think they were different versions of Obsession, but I'm not sure. They were all, however, vanilla based. I would love to find that little black box again! I used those oils for years and they were absolutely wonderful!!
Well I too love great fragrances, Obsession was a favorite of mine too, channel #5 over the years I began to love oils and my DH had a fragrant made up for me by my name...
Now for the voice of reason and health...it is not good to place some perfumes and even some oils on the skin they have linked it with I believe Kidney issues, but we must remember that what we place on our skin goes deep with in so I use my hair my garments as a place to put my scents and not my skin, only natural and healing products on my skin,
If you like vanilla and oriental-based perfumes, Avon had a really great one a few yrs back. I'm not sure if they still make it - Imari. I used to wear that quite often, before I was given my first bottle of Rapture (VS). It is a wonderful smell without being really heavy!
YES, Avon still makes Imari!!! They have the shower gel, powder, lotion and I believe they still make it in the deodorant. I wear it on special occasions. They also have a lighter version called Imari Seduction.
i too wear imari and LOVE it, i have the whole set deoderant too and night magic by avon I am a "passion" perfume lover too, i have heard that kim kardasians new one is amazing i am going to have to check that out and also everyone says that dolly parton smells amazing i would like to know what she wears??? and on jeans & t-shirts days i like exclamation also if ya wear the powders lotions then spray it will stay on much longer i am going to have to do the refrid trick too since i live in deep south and need a cool spirtz
I love plain old COCO Chanel. It's pretty strong, so I only use a tiny spritz, but sometimes men comment that I smell good when I hug them (not that I hug lots of men - just "Hello" and "Good-bye" at parties and such).
I just wonder if any of you have ever thought of people with allergies like me, who just die if we get on the elevator or are in a room with someone wearing a scent? For me it means, migraine and bed. And I don't want to stay home, and am sure you're lovely.
gosh, if fragrances have that sort of effect for you, and you ride elevators often, I would consider getting a wearing a surgical face mask for the elevator ride. Such items are commonly seen these days, and it might help you avoid a migraine, so would be worth the effort.
I've thought about it, and try hard to not get too strong. While perfumes don't bother me, I am highly allergic to smoke - it often triggers an asthmatic response in me. So, I can relate. There are times even when grocery shopping that someone who obviously got there in a smoke-filled car walks by me, and it creates misery. But, we just have to deal with it. There isn't much we can do about how (good or bad) someone else smells.
I have the same problem (my post is above somewhere) I wish people (some men's colognes also trigger the headaches) wouldn't wear scents, but I am guessing there will be little sympathy here for that opinion! The problem is, you don't know which one will trigger a migraine untill you are exposed - some scents give me no problems, others...yikes!! So do you wear a respirator in public - I don't think a surgical mask would filter out scent - or just avoid people in groups altogether?
I would hate to avoid people in groups altogether ... sounds pretty lonely.
it is very simple beautiful, estee Lauder, and chanel 5 I never change them.
Mary Kay's Journey, the best year round.
Mary Kay's Journey, the best year round.
This is going to sound really funny, but when I want a fragrance to wear for something or someone really special, I find myself going back to a fragrance I began wearing 46 years ago! It is "Arpege" by Lanvin. I otherwise very much like Jessica McClintock and Burberry! There's a new one out that I'll probably try called "Blue." (Incidentally, I do have allergies and asthma and so there are countless fragrances and other products I not only cannot wear, but cannot tolerate being around anyone else who is wearing or using them!)
My mom wore Arpege . She has been gone 3 years now and my friends who knew her still remember her fragrance!
It is so neat that you would share such a treasured memory with me . . . thank you!
Do you remember the advertising line.."Promise her anything, but give her Arpege"? That's a scent I have always loved - didn't know it was still out there. Lanvin brought out a "younger" version a couple of years ago, but I don't like it - too heavy. Your mom had great taste!
Oh, I love Arpege, but only in the fall and when I wear sweaters...now I think that sounds funny ;)
Samsara, it's warm and sensual.
Euphoria by Calvin Klein.
"Journey" by Mary Kay is the best.
Definitely Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamonds. I wear it every day and constantly receive compliments.
Oh and let us not forget Shalimar and Youth Dew, those two carry such memories of my mom and my grandmother respectively. To this day I will tear up a bit if I smell either fragrance, but I love them.
You are so right. My mom wore Shalimar. It had a nice scent to it.
My mom wore Shalimar as well - and I still have some of her perfume! When I want to "smell" her all I have to do is open the bottle!
That scent reminds me of my mom too.
What a sweet way to bring back fond memories of a loved one.
White Diamonds is my wear everyday scent. I get so many compliments on it. I love it.
I like the following. Sometimes I mix two --
Parfumd'ete by Kenzo, Chanel No5, Coco Chanel, Romeo by Romeo Gigli, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Lancome Tresor, Maja
I have been using "Calandre" by Paco Rabanne for years. I like the gentle floral sent.
Where did you buy? Y used long time ago, but it hard to find it
Inis - a fregrance I found in Ireland. Can't find it in any stores in the US so I order it online. Very clean smelling. My other fav is Amazing Grace by Philosophy. Another clean scent.
what is the name of the scent that u order from ireland? i too am a Philosophy fan. Clean
Inis is one of my favorite fragrances, too. I buy it in Bethlehem, PA at a store called Donegal Square. There is a website www.donegalsquare.com so you might want to see if the prices compare to your current source. I discovered Ralph Lauren's Blue several years ago and love it. I always get compliments so I know it works for me.
QVC sells Inis twice a year. On their St. Patrick's Day and their Rose of Tralee shows. I LOVE it. I stock up, so I have enough to last til their next show.
The scent I get the most compliments with is White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor. I use the perfume, body lotion and perfumed powder to make the scent last longer. I received a pretty bottle of Vera Wang's Princess at christmas, but I have not worn it yet. No matter what scent I wear I always get more compliments with the White Diamonds.
My husband & I both have allergies, so I have to wear something light. I love Sandalwood Rose by Bath & Bodyworks. It use to be in their aromatherapy line, but they have discontinued it except for the lotion. I always get compliments when I hug someone, but like some others I can not smell it during the day. Does anyone know of something that has a comparable smell to it?
Shalimar...exclusively 46 yrs. and counting..I received a bottle on my 16th birthday and the love affair began..my signature scent..we have been through alot together over the years...a comfort..like an old friend..
Hi, SeaWriter,
When I was but a wee thing, many, oh so many moons ago, my mother used to wake me up on Summer mornings smelling like the magical yellow of the morning sun as it teased its way through the young leaves.
She was wearing a cologne called '4711,' from Germany, and to this day, it remains my absolute favorite.
Not to change the subject, but, doesn't this subject validate the concept from "The Secret" that not everyone wants the same things, and how sharing fond memories of scents warms you with your own, and that life is truly abundant? I think it's cool.
workingypsy, you make a great point!
theartfuldodger, I love 4711! I had completely forgotten about it. I discovered it as an undergraduate in Vienna and wore it for years as my everyday cologne. The finely milled 4711 soap was fabulous.
Hi theartful, just your discription makes me want to find this!
I HAVE ABOUT 25 DIFFERENT ONES. MY HUSBAND IS BIG ON PERFUMES. HE HAS ALWAYS SPOILED ME WITH BEAUTIFUL SCENTS SINCE THE DAY WE MET.HE FINDS THAT THEY ADD TO THE EROTIC NATURE OF THINGS, IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN..LOL FOOD AND GREAT SMELLS ARE A BIG TURN ON FOR HIM SO I CAN'T COMPLAIN...LOL HE HAS EXCELLENT TASTE IN HIS CHOICES BUT HERE ARE 4 OF MY FAVORITES:

MY NIECE LOVES COUTURE-COUTURE ON ME THE MOST.
EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT BODY HEAT SO THEY MAY BE DIFFERENT ON YOU.
I GUESS IT'S THE NEW FOUND HOT FLASHES LATELY THAT MAKE PEOPLE TAKE NOTICE LATELY..ROFL
IS IT NOT GREAT TO BE A WONAN..SMILE*
Juicy Couture! Very nice light scent... it has Tuberose in it...
I went from Magie Noir to Opium To Miss Dior ,then Amarige De Givenchy , Coco de Channel ,Dolce Gabbana the one .At the age of 52 , I am loving Magnifique de Lancome . Fragrance grows diferrent with age and seasons .Keeping perfume in a cool place is a great idea .
Dolce and Gabana- Light Blue! Love it!
Just loooove Basic Instinct by Victoria's Secret - so delishious! Also love Bond Girl 007 by Avon, and Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker- so light and flirty, not overwhelming, and the bottle looks so pretty on your dressing table!
Just loooove Basic Instinct by Victoria's Secret - so delishious and sensual! I like to wear it when I go salsa dancing. It mixes well with sweat ;) Also love Bond Girl 007 by Avon, and Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker- both are so light and flirty, not overwhelming, and the bottles look so pretty on your dressing table!
My favorite is Ambush. I started wearing this in the 60's when I was a teenager. Then sometime in the 90's they changed the formula, and it smells horrible! I found the original scent on ebay, the one with the pink cap and bought a lot of it. It's the only scent I wear.
I absolutely love YSATIS by Givency. I have worn it for over 25 years. I have tried other fragrances, but I always come back to Ysatis. It can be a little overbearing in the summer, so I usually play around with new scents in the summer. I'm currently trying to find a fragrance to try this summer -- any suggestions?!?
I'm so excited to learn new "secrets" - I will now start storing my perfume in the fridge (right next to my soothing eye pads!)
Try Channel =19 , it's very light and great for Summer..
thanks, tass...I will
Looks like most of us love perfume/cologne. I bought one recently called Puma, a rather fresh benign summer scent, then realized it was mimicking "cougar". The realization made me laugh. I wear Chanel #5 and Opium and one called Blue occasionally. Someone mentioned Avon scents -- can't stand them -- when I was pregnant, my mother gave me an Avon cologne and it made me throw up. To this day the underlying scent in all Avon products I've encountered has that effect on me.
We love perfume, but do men, really like it on us? I've encountered a lot of indifference, even hostility -- but perhaps I haven't found the right one. . .
I have worn Ysatis for several years as well as Ivoire de Balmain. A new one I've added is narciso rodriguez for her. Talk about sexy... I don't wear floral fragrances any more. I much prefer the woodsy mossy scents.
I have always like Ivoire de Balmain. A nice clean fresh fragrance!
I once chased down a woman at the mall to ask what scent she was wearing. Thirty years later I'm still wearing OMBRE ROSE, by Jean Charles Bosseau.
My family consider this my signature scent, and I do love its warm, sensual feel.
I have worn Dazzeling Silver by Estee Lauder for years. I get so many compliments on it.
I have worn Dazzeling Silver by Estee Lauder for years. I get so many compliments on it.
favorite is White Shoulders. 4711 second choice. 4711 given to submarine sailors in wwII as a deodorant.Got pretty smelly in those subs, days with out a proper shower. They brought m4711 home to their girlfriends, they liked the clean smell. Good to wear while gardening or playing tennis
I've worn Georgio for over 25 years. I love receiving compliments when I wear it, especially from my husband. As a young girl I wore Love's Musky Jasmine Flower, Muguet du Bois, and L'Air du Temps. I still love those scents because they evoke such strong and pleasant memories for me. As an adult, I've occasionally worn various Calvin Klein scents but I always go back to Georgio. I love having a signature scent.
I used to love Jill Saunders b ut I do not think it is available anymore.
If you are referring to Jil Sander No. 4 you are right. . . . . .from what I read it is not being made anymore. I have managed to track down some bottles of it here and there. After reading the posts on this site, I am storing my one unopened bottle in the fridge.
I do not remember it being referred to as No. 4 but it was in a round bottle with a big black cap. I do not use perfume any more but I would if I could get me hands on some of it.
I have tried finding Jil Sander #4 for years but all I find are the knock-offs which smell terrible! If you find any originals, PLEASE let me know...I loved this scent!! I'd start a petition to start making it again if I knew who to send it to!
she is reviving her clothing line in conjunction with a japanese company, her is a link to wikapedia. Hopefully the perfume with come back also.

lets all keep each other posted if we find any.
My favourite perfurme for years is Fifth Avenue by Elizabeth Arden: smells of lilac.
Coco by Chanel is my absolute favourite scent but it makes my husband sneeze uncontrollably! Others I wear (that don't seem to bother him) are Shalimar, Absolutely Irrisistable by Givenchy, and Chanel No 5 (that one reminds me so much of my mother that it's my "comfort" scent).
I was given a bottle of Volupte by Oscar de la Renta many years ago by a good friend who'd received it and didn't like it. I received so many compliments over the years, that even when I try something else, I always go back to it. One of my daughter-in-laws once told me that after her children had been with Grandma, she could smell it on them. After that, she would always comment that she "smelled Grandma" when I came into the room. I was thrilled to make a lasting memory for my family. Nowadays, I can only get it online, but will continue to us it until I can no longer purchase it.
I wear Obsession for women and my husband just loves it. Not overpowering but a nice scent that stays with you
I wear and love Bond No. 9, New York, Union Square. It's fabulous!
wow, so many good ones! I am asthmatic so i have to wear something clean, soft... so i vary. I tried 360 perry ellis for a while, then Victoria Secret's Angel. Channel #5 i wore for a long time in my 20's and 30's. I am not bashful to ask anybody that is wearing a fragrance that i like. For me, it is a hard find since it has to be very soft.
I wear all of Thierry Mugler's fragrances - they seem to have been made for me! Angel and Alien in teh winter/Innocent in the summer. VBeen wearing them exclusively for the past 12 years or so and always get compliments!
I have about 25 bottles of perfume, but these are my most favorites:
Evening in Paris, Dolce & Gabbana, Decadence, L' Air du Temps, Giorgio, Ciara, Thierry Mugler's Angel, Tresor, Sweet Honesty, Escada & Pleasures.
I'm like you I have at least as many bottles of perfume. What I wear depends on my mood, the season or the event.
HI AGAIN I LOVE "DESIGN" WHENEVER I WEAR IT,WHICH IS PRACTICALLY EVERY DAY I GET A COMPLEMENT,,,SMELLS LIKE YOU JUST GOT OUT OF SHOWER SO REFRESHING
I am enjoyng reading this so much... I love a fragrance from Floris- called MalMaison- it is a very old carnation perfume. I also like anything with rose geranium... bergamot oil mixed with ginger is nice for winter. There is a company that does reproductions of old discontinued perfumes- they have some lovely things and the Irma Shorell Rose is pretty. I have very strong memories of women when I was a child and what perfume they wore really stayed with me- scent is such a memory trigger!

I liked Skinny Dip but they discontinued it..then I liked Blase..but they discontinued it! Don't have a favourite anymore :(
Hmmm well, my go to scents for probably 15 years have been "Shalimar" when I am a "good girl" and "Poison" by Dior when I am a "bad girl"...
I have used Vera Wang exlusively for several years now. There are some newer versions but I use the original. I can't stand a heavy scent, this one is light and clean. Both of my grown daughters and some of their friends use it, too.
Vera Wang, the original scent. Love it!
I wish I could wear a fragrance. Whenever I try, within an hour or so I end up smelling like I dabbed on vinegar. How discouraging. So I wear the soap and water fragrance...... Any suggestions?
natural scented oils at pulse points
Perhaps try Crabtree and Evelyn's Summer Hill lotions and powder, rather than a heavy cologne or perfume? There is a body lotion, hand lotion, soaps, shower gel, and powder. C&E makes several scents. Very natural and clean and rather old-fashioned. I always go back to C&E when I tire of heavy-handed perfumes. C&E is the one scent I can wear to bed and it soothes me, doesn't wake me up with a headache. Plus, my husband really likes it, too. =)
You should try a French Perfume such a Givenchy....they all stay true to their scent. Also if you cannot wear perfume at all you should try their creams which contain 4 grams of perfume the one I like the best is Ange Au Demon, soft powdery fragrance with some spices.....
