Twitter or Facebook?
posted 03/24/2009, 09:23PM new!
I have a Facebook and it's fun, but I notice some of my friends are also on Twitter. I'm not sure what the difference is. Do I need a Twitter account if I already have Facebook?

Do both.  Get the 2 accounts.  Twitter is a micro-blog (just put short "happenings" in your life.  You can write longer passages into Facebook.  These sites are meant for you to have fun...but they can also be used for business purposes.  Just be yourself and show your personality and if people pick up that you have something to sell (I have a website for 50+) too, well, that's really cool, isn't it?

I don't really get twitter. Is twitter through your cell phone rather than pc based? I  have a facebook account...then I got a twitter, but, not sure what to do with it!

Thanks for steering me straight.

I would say no. Facebook is a larger network and you might find more of your friends on it. You can share photos and videos and also join groups and become a "fan" of organizations and businesses you support. Both Twitter and Facebook have a "status update" feature that answers the question: what are you doing now? You have about 140 characters in which to respond. So, it's short, but sweet.

I prefer Facebook and call it my "Virtual Real-time Scrapbook." My non-techno-savvy parents and friends have "finally" opened Facebook accounts because of me, just so they can see my teenage boys, who are growing as fast as bullet trains and involved in multiple sports at high school. Even if my parents never add to their profiles, they can keep up with everything we're doing, and to them, that's a BIG plus! I also have found college friends and old boyfriends... and I love to see what they are up to in their lives, while sharing my family too!

I just signed up for Twitter last night.  I have been on Facebook for a few months now.  On Twitter, you can follow some of your favorites such as Regis and Kelly and Oprah.  They send daily updates about what their shows are doing...interesting. You also can hook up with family and friends...they will read your posts.

I have both ... I use twitter to post interesting articles to my followers, and to let people know when I travel to different cities.  I also use it to send out helpful hints on how to communicate better with yourself and with others, and how your mind reacts to stress.  Keeping it to 140 characters is tough ... using the tinyurl helps.  My twitter name is shari_f ... follow me and I'll follow you

I like Facebook to stay in touch with family and friends. Twitter was useful when we experienced the December Ice Storm. Our local electric company used Twitter to communicate where they were for repairs and when we might be able to expect our electricity to be available....8 days later :). I twittered at work that week and used nice candles at home :). I don't have a Twitter account because I don't feel like I have time available to do both.

i like facebook..I have my whole family there and some important people like kim kommando oprah some newsletters..I think for twitter you have to text something that comes to mind and by the time I reach my computer I am not sure what that was.
