Twitter is a fantastic way to stay up to date in your particular area of interest. And it's certainly the place for 'cutting-edge' news.

Here is my affiliate link to a free 3-part video series by Mike Klingler on Twitter.

Video 1 is for absolute beginners and teaches how to sign up, etc. i/e/ the absolute basics

Video 2 is all about how to use twitter and all of the features & how to use them - how it works

Video 3 will be great to show your husband (saw your tweet about trying to explain twitter to him!) as Mke explains very clearly 'why' you need to be on twitter.

Still getting the hang of posting in this community - just posted a reply to you about twitter to myself!!! See drkisane to drkisane (below) for link to twitter training videos - silly me!

Also, can you tell me how you got your twitter into a hyperlink - did you use html when writing the post before clicking on post a response?

Also, is there any way you can delete a post once it has been sent, which I would like to have done when I realised I'd posted to myself!

Any time you type a full address included http - in my case it was:

http://twitter.com/cherirae

it automatically becomes hot. Happens even when putting the address in a word document etc. As long as you're connected to the internet the address is hot. At least that has been my experience. However, if you just enter:

www.twitter.com/cherirae

it won't be hot. You have to have the full address including http://

Hope that helps.

Don't know about deleting a post but have heard that some emails are now offering a 5 second option of deleting a "sent" email after it is sent. I think it is gmail.

Yes, I read somewhere too, think it was on twitter, that it's gmail offering that 'deleting' service. Hope the other ones pick it up as I'm not with gmail.

Do let me know if you found the twitter videos helpful (not an affiliate link I realised afterwards - they are completely free). It would be good to know for when I refer others to them.

Bummer, thought we had that sussed - but just put the http:// in on a link and it still hasn't come up as a hyperlink. Not sure what I'm doing wrong! Do you have to put in www too? I'll try that next time, just to check it out!

I have a question about tweeter. If you connect your tweeter to your facebook page --- do people following you on tweeter also have access to your facebook page or do you have to designate them as a facebook friend?

I found out about an application on Facebook called Selective Twitter Application. What you do is add it on your facebook account. And when you tweet you add #fb and that particular tweet will go to your status update on facebook. This way you dont bombard all your tweets to facebook. There is another twitter application on facebook that sends ALL your tweets to Facebook. don't use that one.

I follow bloggers, some authors and people I have found interesting like the owner of Ted.com. I looked at who he follows. Alot of those people are not following me. But some do. I really am using Twitter to get a pulse of the collective consciousness. It had me dizzy for the first week and now I am wired to it. And I have unexpectedly connected with some interesting people.

Thanks so much for the tip on Selective Twitter Applications Blanca - didn't know it existed. I was having my tweets sent to FB and then went in and deleted half of them that would not be of interest and then finally stopped the link altogether. Definitely into the 'information overload' category! The final straw was when I saw that my tweets from #ageop were also going through to FB!

Just saw this reply! So sorry for not responding sooner! As I rapidly approach the next decade of my life, I'm using positive affirmation words as often as possible! So...DRKISANE...DR means Doctor? or Deborah Rene? My hubby's initials are DR, so everyone thinks he's a doc!

Primarily I use it to build relationships with other baby boomers and to keep up-to-date with what's happening in the boomer field, in attraction marketing and renegade professional and the latest happenings in the world in general. It is also a wonderful place to meet people (tweeples!) from all over the world. I have followers in the USA, the UK, Singapore, Bosnia and, of course, Austalia which is where I am. I have a real sense of 'belonging' to the world community - or global village - since being on twitter.
