Diane B

I am newly re-married and have two teen-aged daughters.  I am a breast cancer survivor of almost two years, yeah!!!  At the moment, I was laid off from my position in February of this year, and I'm at home taking care of much needed busines.

my VN interview

How did you get to where you are now?

By being a very strong minded individual.  My father taught me to keep going, no matter what happens.  He also told me to do your best everyday; and if you have done your very best, that's the best you can do.  Never let anyone push you down.

How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?

I would NEVER have thought I would get breast cancer and it would change things in life that I took for granted, i.e. always feeling great and doing anything physical I wanted to do.  I had enless energy.   I didn't think I would be out of the work force due to the damages of chemotherapy complications at 51 years old.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I don't know - that's what scares me the very most!

a postcard to my younger self

I love you so much! Your creativity, organization, your funny sense of humor, and your endless ways to love! Life was a fun journey. You didn't see too many obstacles.  You went for things that your family said, "no that's not a smart idea". You were brave to move away from family and live in San Francisco - the best three years of my life still!

my role models

My father - who was the wisest person I ever met.

My mother - who had endless love for her family and friends and shared that so often.

My Italian grandfather - who I inherited my emotional issues - the good ones, where you cry at the Hallmark card commercials!  I'm very tender hearted just like him.

My Grandmother too.  She created mountains from nothing.

These people stayed married, and happy.  They journeyed through all sorts of moutains and valleys and weatherd some awful storms - but, they remained even closer and more committed to each other.  If only they could teach classes on how to stay in love and how to work at staying together happily.
