For many years of my young adult life, I was searching for a place for my skills, talents and abilities.  I did not get clear on who I was until I came into a relationship with Christ.  The next best thing that happened to me was that I began working at an urban ministry . . . and that's when it all happened!  That's when I knew my life call was to serve people.  That is what I love to do.

my VN interview

How did you get to where you are now?

I'm finally living my dream--how sweet it is!  Heading up a womens outreach ministry brings so much joy to me bec. I'm touching the lives of many women with the help of other women with the same passion.  I've always been a "people gatherer" and always had ideas of things to do.  I knew the Christian life was to be exciting, ever changing--not boring at least not for me!!!  After volunteering with a grant funded program that taught me alot about how to help women, I held in my heart the possibility of doing something similar.  Today we're doing it.                     Oh yeah, I forgot to add.  I was comfortable in my little nest for 13+ years and never considered leaving the urban ministry I was a part of.  To my surprise, when the leadership of that ministry changed months later I was invited out the door!  Was that a rude awakening . . . no, it was the kick I needed to get me out and into the new ministry.  God has a sense of humor indeed!!!!!!!!!!

How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?

At age 47 I was oh so comfortable where I was.  I was able to create all kinds of wonderful programs and carry them out.  Who would want to leave that?

Relationship wise, I was doubting I'd have love in my life. Just dating here and there.  I guess that's why I was able to stay busy and "have a life".

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Within the next 10 I believe I will be doing more womens ministry on the national/international level.

a postcard to my younger self

Girl you really were a free spirit--we did a lot of things others dared to do.   I do wish we had come into a love relationship with the Lord so we thought it impossible to be vibrant, have joy and have a life!   Well, at least we're there now.
