I have 20 years in healthcare and I am asking myself if I should go back to school and invest thousands of dollars in going back to school,,..once I get out I will  be over 60 and have alot of student loans..is it worth it?  This is very scary!   I can’t find a job and once unemployment goes away I am not sure what I will do.  Any suggestions?

I had a jerk employer for 9 mos.  Now I want to take them off my resume.  Getting an attorney after an employer spells trouble for your future career.  Luckly I only invested 9 mos,

I had a second interview about 2 wks ago right before I was going to have this hearing with my attorney.  They saw I had worked for jerk employer and made comments about what they knew…all the shakeups, etc..which I smiled and said I knew nothing.

Now that I never heard back from them I have a feeling this is just going to harm my future employment chances.  I am thinking of deleting them off my resume…however, if I get caught that is grounds for dismissal.  Do you think anyone would ever catch that I worked for these creeps?  What should I say about the gap in my employment.  I was taking on-line classes, which I was.  I was also working on projects at home and spending some ME time.  Any suggestions?  Should I take it off???  The job itself was very good for me..it is just the people running the place that stinks.

I don’t want to lie but I need to work.  I am going on month #5 with no job.  I have been in healthcare since 1989.  I need someone who can offer me GOOD advice here.  Thanks.

I had been collecting several months and the  employer wanted to try to stop it.  Emplopyer hire a company called  TALX (it sounds like talk). 

They hire them to deny benefits.  That is their job.  If I would have lost I would have had to  pay pay the state…so I was further ahead of the game by getting an attorney.  Hated to do it but I had to FIGHT for what was MINE. 

The bottomline is don’t let these jerks do this to you.  You can DO it on your own and appeal it yourself.  HOWEVER, as it was explaned to me by my attorney.  She has had clients come to her crying the blues after they tried to do it themselves and there was nothing she can do!  It is wiser to get legal counsel if you find yourself in a position that I was in.  What jerks!  I guess they figured out they had no leg to stand on and backed off.  I got a call from the state at the attorney’s office..that the employer withdrew their case.  FIGHT PEOPLE! DON’T LET ANYONE SCREW YOU!!!!!

It is almost 4 months later and I just want to put this behind me.  I hated to get an attorney but I need to protect my interests.  If I lost the case then I will have to pay back the state along with having no job!

I really want to move on..this is just getting old already!

I had to hire an attorney to fight my unemployment compensation.  I have been getting my checks, but the employer is making up lies to appeal this.  Why??  The sign of the times?  Oh, yea..I am not suppose to take this personal….but it is destroying my livlihood.   Maybe I am just sooo tired today…normally I can bounce back from setbacks…but today…I just don’t know anymore.

I had a great interview on Friday.  The woman I interviewed with is now referring me to someone closer to my home…that is good news..but the job I am interested in would require me to call on people in the senior care industry…that is ok..except one of the people I would have to call on is the place that is giving me all this grief in my unemployment…I NEVER want to see those people EVER again..much less do business with them!!!!

I had a phone interview in my hometown in PA at a major university.  I am in FL.  I would consider going there…however, this woman thinks I have so much to offer that I would be bored…I expalined everyone has new things to learn from every situation.  The question is do I want to go back there when I can’t sell my house.  What if the job does not work out..then what???? What do I do then??? I would feel more comfortable staying right where I am…but the jobs here in FL are very few..whereas in PA  I may have a better shot.  I need health benefits…etc.

I honestly don’t know what to do.  I could call the contact here about the job…but I would have to tell her I can’t go into the facility where I had the bad experience.

I just want to crawl under the covers and cry…it could be worse..I know.  I don’t have kids to feed.  I could go back to school..but then I still have to worry about basics.  I have a renter and a BF who is retired.  Like I said it could be worse….but my self esteem is being taxed.

I need answers and solutions….all I hear is “It is not you..it is the times we are in.’  So how do you remaim positive with that information.  How do you press on and continue?  I have always been a woman who takes care of myself…I feel helpless..and don’t know what to do.   If I lose my unemployment appeal then I have to pay back thoussands of dollars…they are idiots..and I hope they rot in hell.  The attorney feels I will win…but even so I hated to get an attorney over an asshole employer.  I had no choice!  I’m tired…and wish I could go back to when I was married to my husband.  We had vision and dreams…all I seem to have now is chaos.  I’m tired already!

I need someone to give me direction.  I know what I am good at .all I do is run into brick walls.  I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.  I need coaching, love and few hugs..I have tried to do this all on my own…I am getting so tired!  I want to get the hell out of Florida and go back north.  I am ready to walk away from this damn house.  I don’t need it . Give me a room, some comfort food, and God and some good friends ..a job where I can be fulfilled…and friend swho will love me and help me get my life back! 

I have had the awful experience of working with an dysfunctional employer as well as being in a hostile environment.  I have had so much rotten luck since I moved to Florida in 2005.  My husband died in 2003.   I really want to get of this state as fast as I can and RUN!

I lost my job in 2008 and got hired to work in social services as an assistant to the director in March 09.  I don’t have a social services background.  My background is in healthcare administration.  To make a long story short I will tell you the facts.

I am 56..boss 23.   I didn’t mind working for a younger person..I was happy to have a job.  My boss hired me March 26.  She had her baby April 9, 2009 and took 3 mos off of work.  I had very little training and got help now and then from other social workers for a few hours a week.  It was rough.  Most people thought I would quit and I did not.

The boss came back mid June.  I followed her instructions on what to do.  I never received a Dept policy book to review and sign.  I never received a performance review of any kind.  However, she was trying to write me up for things she told me to do.  I never went above her to complain.  I was trying to resolve things on my own.  I am never one to rat on anyone or whine and complain.  I was just thankful to have a job.  I had lost a job a year earlier after a 3 year gig at another facility due to this rotten enconomy.

She kept trying to do me in and rebutted her comments showing I was doing my job.  I refused to sign her last notice of writing me up as it was lies..so she let me go. 

I started collecting unemployment in January.  I got a letter in today’s mail that they want to do an appeal over the phone on March 5th.   I don’t understand this appeal as I did not have enough time to collect unemployment benefits against this employer.  I only worked for them for 9 mos. I worked for the previous employer 3 years.  I had collected unemployment from the previous employer before I was hired in March 09 in Social Services.  This is all very confusing to me.

Even so, I need someone in my corner as I did not do anything wrong. This director made comments to me that she was “covering her ass” and that I was used while she was gone on maternity leave.  she also made comments that “a bunch of bitches work here” which later she turned out to be one herself.

I have never EVER worked in such a dysfunctioinal job in my 20 years in in healthcare.  This is the worst job I ever had..PERIOD.

The letter states that I did not follow policy and procedures but everything that was given to me was pretty much verbally.  Why did they keep me for 9 mos..hmmm?  Sounds too fishy to me.

Why did it take them 9 mos to figure out I wasn’t what they wanted.  Now I face this hearing on March 5th.  The problem is I am in a right to work state…and I don’t see how any attorney is going to be able to help me.  I called one today.  I am in no postion to pay back that money as I am already hanging on a thread.

My former employer called me for for phone interview at at a major university I worked at in another state.  I am ready to go back.  I don’t care about my house anymore.  I don’t care about stuff!  I have a girlfriend in that state who is welcoming me with open arms..and I feel weird about it as I never had to do this as I am a very self sufficient woman.  I will do what I need to do, though.

How do you guys think I should handle this appeals hearing.  The letter said they are bringing witnesses. There are no witnesses.  It was just me and the director. I need someone to be in my corner and furthermore a phone interview is not sitting well with me.  I need to a face to face meeting.  Even though this is a right to work state I feel I am wronged!  I have letters of recommendation about my previous character and how the great work I did in my former jobs.

This is very wrong and I am not sure what to do.  I placed a call with an attorney.  The lesson I learned was I should have went to HR when this stuff started.  I am not use to this kind of behavior in the work place as I am a get along go along gal and never cause problems at work.
