I am a vibrant 58 year old wife, mother, friend, hairstylist, artist, seamstress, lover of nature, animals, people and most importantly, God.

John and I met in our hometown Buffalo, NY and have been happily married for 33 years. We have 5 wonderful adult children who all live near us in Denver, Colorado.

I have been blessed with a wonderful career in hairstyling and I am now semi-retired which gives me time for my other passions of fashion design, sewing, reading, music and volunteering.

I had several life changing events in my life. 15 years ago my only sibling died suddenly and I was awarded guardianship of her 5 year old adopted daughter. Shortly after, my mother passed away. A few months later I suffered a closed head injury (after my first and last 5 minutes of rollerblading) and then was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and clinical depression. My life was a real mess but with the support of my family, friends and a wonderful counselor, I picked up the pieces and have continued on (at a modified pace).

At this point in my life I am in the process of reevaluating many ideas, beliefs and philosophies that I have held as true through out a good portion of my life. I continue to search for what should be true in my life and what ideas that I have held are wrong or false. I believe it willbe a continuous journey for the rest of my life. I hold my family, marriage and life dear and I look forward to the adventure.

my VN interview

How did you get to where you are now?

With hard work, patience, persistence and faith in God.

How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?

Ten years ago I was very invested in my local church. I spent many hours ministering to women and mentoring one on one. Now I find myself disiilusioned with my former church and with church politics in general. I still have a strong faith in God but my interest in the local church has been damaged by the cruel actions of some leaders and pstors.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I see myself as happy and content with John as we enjoy our retirement. I also look forward to having grandchildren and traveling.

Disappointment in the post Modern Christian Church

Whats the deal with the non-churchy  “Community” churches that have sprung up all over the place? At first I thought they were  unfriendly to the 50+ crowd but I’ve found as we
